Canadian Divison 1 Breakdown:
Big 8:
1. BC Toroo: They have it locked up and will be the top dog going into the playoffs.
2. Molson Export: They have a spot locked up but they need to win a game and have both jed999 and Alpines lose 1 each to lock up 2nd spot.
3. Jed999: They can win both games and have Molson Export lost both to move up to 2nd place. However, they could go the other way and have the Meatballs take their playoff spot, with the point differential between the two..I don’t see it happening however.
4. Alpines: They’re in the exact same position as Jed999.
5. The Meatballs: They’re the only other team with a shot at this season’s playoffs in the Big 8. However, unless they can pull of huge wins against Molson Canadians and Alpines (a team they need to overcome) their season will be over before the real stuff begins.
Great 8:
1. PC Lobsters: They have 1 or 2 spot locked up. Playing 2 less teams in the final 2 games of their season, I don’t see them losing their spot.
2. submillionaire: Also have a play off spot locked up but which one still hangs out there. Playing two tough opponents in NG Panthers and the Burlington Nighthawks, they could definitely fall down a spot.
3. New Glasgow Panthers: They could take 2nd spot if they win out and submillionaire loses out. However, the more important thing to worry about now would be keeping their play off spot. All they need to do is win one game. They’ll play submillionaire in a toss up and then the last place team Belper Mounties so it’s likely we’ll see them in the post-season.
4. Montreal Rockets: Although they hold the last spot, things certainly don’t look good for them. They hold a one game lead over Pictou County Pipers and will play the group leaders PC Lobsters next game. And then Pictou County the following game. The team is also at a huge disadvantage in the tie breaker, points.
5. Pictou County Pipers: Playing the Rapcats next game and then the Montreal Rockets the following week we could see the two battle it out in the last game of the season to book their ticket to the play offs.
6. Burlington Nighthawks: This team is my pick to fly under the radar and take the 4th spot. If they can win out against submillionare and then Belper there in unless the Pipers do the same.
