Woah...since when did my salary go below the league average?! Something sneaky is going on in here.

That's why I asked what was up with Big 8 spending. You're actually 8th in total salary, so right at average. Though your average player salary -- $29k -- is below average.

Lowest Average Salary: Flashers $17k, Milwaukee Lethargy $20k, Phoenix Fletchers $25k
Highest Average Salary: Jack Rabbits $44k, ATL The Hawks $39k, Purdue Boilers $39k
Median Average Salary: $32k
Highest Total: Manhattan Beach Metal Detectors $512k
Lowest Total: Flashers $246k
Median Total: $389k

Purdue is now the 2nd highest spending II.3 team at $ 484k. & has taken over the highest average salary. The question is, is this sustainable over the long term?

The Contortionists picked up a $126k center themselves. So suddenly a bunch of Big 8 teams are spending the kind of $ that would only be justified by winning the league championship...

The new median team payroll: $409k. & from the economy page: League Average Net Income: $ -14 487
Diagnosis: too spendy. (& murder)

Doing my part buddy. You might as well just give up for the season. After beating mbmd

You're welcome :)

Right now, I would say it probably isn't sustainable over the long-term. I've got a couple of my fringe players for sale and will probably get lower priced (and better value) backups in their place. Just been tinkering around with lineups and players to find out where I can end up and have the best possible team. Kind of a turn-over year for a good portion of my team after keeping the same core 8 players together for a long time.

I'm not all in though. My goal was only being slightly above .500, so it's been a pleasant surprise so far... (but doubt it will last).

If I thought I had a shot at the coveted silver trophy, I might step it up. Maybe in a season or two before my players decline too much. Your not winning it all S16 kills what could have been a sliver opportunity. With enough of a lead on the other teams, playoff HCA + CT could have gotten me there... maybe.

Not saying you can't win the title, or at least emerge from the Great 8. You have one of the more dangerous teams, tbh.

The thing is that only 1 team can win it all. & a whole lot of teams seem to be operating at a loss... unless they all think they have a very legitimate shot at beating teams the caliber of Manhattan or (no-city) Contortionists -- on the road in the playoffs -- it doesn't seem to make sense.

By the same token, a team like Manhattan spending $512k when they're actually making less than average in attendance (~ $245k last game?), might make sense for now, but is an even bigger risk. They've got to be burning through cash & can't see them doing it more than 1 more season if they don't promote.

& Yeah just noticed you've got some monster backups. Guess that's where a lot of your $ is going. Your starters are only slightly over league average. Thought I might be overspending myself going into the season, but turns out no. The salary of my top 5 isn't even in the same ballpark as the big spenders. (close to $136k!?! less than the top team)

Wow, the only D2 conference with all it's teams still in the cup: II.3 Great 8!

Even the NBBA doesn't have all it's teams still in it, on either side. So going to go out on a limb & say we're the only USA conference with all it's teams still left in the cup. (baring some unforeseen D3 super-conference)

Won't be the case next week... I will be squaring off against Fosse. It's at my place and with my guys mad after the away loss to them a couple of weeks ago, they may be looking for blood :)

I put up a respectable showing against Funky Town Fire (NBBA) but it wasn't good enough

Nice try!
Pretty impressive outplaying an NBBA team most of the game w/ equal effort. Especially since your new PG was in not so great GS & they had their 3 $100k guys out there. That 2nd quarter just put you behind the 8-ball. Even so you still cut the lead to 3pts with 19 secs left...

You'll be one of the most dangerous road teams in playoff history if you keep the team together. If this was real basketball I'd have my team do whatever it takes to avoid you in the first round. Like were I in 1st & you in 4th... I'd rather drop down to 2nd & take my chances there.

Yes I'm developing a bit of a pattern as being a nightmare road playoff draw.
Amazingly, this team is far more financially solvent than my previous setup. I have a little more juggling to do but I think I might be keeping it this way for awhile.
