I will be replying to all questions above a bit later today. A couple of thoughts now though, I believe players should make our national team based around talent and skills they have to offer not age. So older players would have a position on our national team if I was to become the national team manager. A balance would need to be struck of course as younger players would need to join the team when they have acquired the necessary skill so they can gain experience on our National Team. Younger players would not be pushed on to our National Team before they are ready as this would serve to encourage managers to continue to train them. I believe everyone here would want our National Team to be the best it can be and I believe in picking the best guys we have to form the core of our team and having the upcoming younger talents as back ups to give them experience and have them available to fill in if one of the core is injured.

I also want to emphasis my commitment to this role and helping our National Team should I not be elected I would like to assist as I have more time available than I have had before

I'm pretty sure I answered your ideation in a previous post about having assistant coaches to help out with the players that are not quite ready for the national team while. I would handle players that are in the team or only a couple of pops away.

I'd do all the forum and interaction on the forum myself. While I'd let everyone discuss tactics and why they believe it should be played on the offsite forum.

In the end though the tactics in an important game would still come down to me to decide on buy I will let other managers influence it of they give good reason

I must say, our drafts in Australia have been really dry the last few seasons.

There hasn't really been any player in the U21 side that has had the potential to kick on to the national team.

Last season there was a lot more talent and we should see that talent trickle into the National Team in around 5-6 seasons, I myself have 3 guards who I will ensure all make the National Team.

That being said, it may mean we need to rely on the golden oldies for a little while longer yet.

Yes there are a currently a few young bigs still around that will make the current team plus the scoggins who hopefully Isn't left to go into early retirement. There's some fringe guards also. By watching your scouting of drafts and the scouting that all u21 coaches do each season I have noticed this dryness in the draft.
Which means I'd be getting the most put of every player I can.

Your guard are looking awesome. I also think seeing how HA is going with his SF who probably won't make u21 but with continue training as there getting will hopefully be those top class SF we've been looking for the last couple of season.

I would retain assistant coaches and look to establish someone to assist or fulfill the role of performing game and player write ups. I would look for experienced active coaches would can dedicate the time necessary to these tasks. I would also look for a newer but keen player to learn about the National Team. I would like as many keen managers involved as possible

To the two of you - if, hypothetically, an experienced ABBL coach did enter the race - what would you offer, that they would not?

all you require is ABBL experience? vote for me then, i joke, i just like entering my name in the off chance there are enough loonies out there willing to vote for me for the same crazy reasons i entered my name in

At least you can count on your own vote then? ;)
How man more loonies are there?

Of course the best players would be pick. My talk of bring in younger players was if their skills were even but they lack the experience of the older players. How do players get experience? My point on this issue is to make sure we do our best to always make sure we have players with experience within the squad to be key players to make the big plays at important times during game.

I agree recent drafts havent been great that's why I brought my current trainees. Any one know if this has affected other countries? If this continues managers will have less talent to work with but will have to focus on training the best we can get. Time for lunch

dry is an understatement they have been pathetic

has any1 else here ever coached a nt & a u21 team? i have

the u21 team is 5 times the work of the senior team so i think the snr team manager can be the 1 that does a lot 2 get the community involved we did some things in the fishbowl 2 help things so here r some suggestions

weekly mvps 4 the team - only 1 match a week so low burden just 3, 2, 1 votes with reasons
u could couple this with a competition for others to pick the mvp (with pize)
guess the margin game each week people each week could guess if we win or lose & the margin (with prize)
writeups
national caps database wb started
assistant of the year (prize for whoever helped the most)

i have some fun ideas for a prize as well
supporter
get to name the team as "name sponsor" for the next season a few real teams have done this
get to have some nt games played at your arena
or the big prize a free trip 2 be on the team in a scrimmage - seem this done in real life where a fan gets to suit up, do warm ups on court & sit on the bench - so the winning person gets 1 of their players 2 join the nt (at the end of the season when we r just scrimmaging) & be listed 4 a game (on the bench)

Some good ideas there. With a poor draft class it is more vital that we work to make sure those with potential are trained to NT level. I know in my league there was only 2 MVP players and 6 Superstars. Which means none will be good enough for the NT side really.

Those are all the things that I had already thought of implanting to get the community involved and more
Interested.

Never thought of the sponsor one at the bottom that sounds interesting though not sure how we would implement it or choose if more then one person wants to be sponsor
