Round 11
Brisbane Thunder vs. Geelong Vipers 75 - 93
Big game this one is for both sides. A win for the Vipers may see them climb to 9th while a win for the Thunder will give them a respectable 3-8 record for an improving team. In such a close game the Thunder suffered possibly a game losing injury to He Anfu… at least it wasn’t Cristiano Semoni. It was a narrow Vipers lead 14-16 halfway through the first. Vipers manage to jump away at the end of the 1st to a 23 – 32 lead. Thanks to Francios Cartier who had a quickfire 17 in the quarter. The Thunder pulled it right back together trailing only 47-50 at halftime. It was Semoni with 15 points who began to combat Cartier who had 25 for the Vipers. Exciting second half to follow.
A good start to the second half for the Vipers saw them restore their lead to 8 points in midway through the 3rd. The lead was only 6 at three quarter time with Cartier having an outstanding 18 points and 16 rebounds. A big last quarter for the Vipers was enough to put away the Thunder and jump up to a very respectable 9th on the ladder. They ran out comfortable 18 point winners behind Cartier’s brilliance, 43 points and 20 rebounds… 3 votes coming your way. Semoni was again the best for the Thunder with 25 points 13 rebounds.
3 votes - Geelong Vipers - Francois Cartier - 43 points 20 rebounds 6 steals
Generally when players shoot 35+ points their field goal percentage tends to take a bit of a battering from the sheer amount of shots they take... however not for Cartier who shot an amazing 19-27 from the floor for his magnificant 43 points. Add 20 rebounds and 6 steals and you can't possibly go past him for the 3 votes.
2 votes - Brisbane Thunder - Cristiano Semoni - 25 points 13 rebounds 3 steals 3 blocks
Semoni has led the Thunder since his introduction to the franchise midway through the season. He did so again tonight. Shooting over 50% for his team high, he showed signs of taking over the game in the second but he just couldn't do enough when it came to the second half.
1 vote - Geelong Vipers - Makarios Gkonias - 16 points 8 rebounds 6 assists
Gkonias had a nice little cameo in his 40 minutes doing a bit of everything, hounding the boards, dropping some points and also setting up his teammates.

Western Titans vs. Maggots 113 - 45
With 5 points of PD separating the top two teams the Titans will need a big win over the struggling Maggots to grab the minor championship. Titans climbed to a 14-5 lead only 5 minutes in, with Samdup really hungry for the MVP votes with 8 points. Uditi Samdup dominated the Maggots for an 18-10 first quarter double double for his team to lead 32 – 14. Titans 57 – 19 Maggots was the scoreline at the half with Samdup having a great 26 points and 13 rebounds.
Titans continued to rout the lonely Maggots and all but secured their minor championship in the 3rd. Samdup was really just padding his stats in this game with 36 points and 15 rebounds with a quarter to go. Almost all the game was a formality, but the last quarter game a chance for the Titans bench to display their abilities, while the big guys get wrapped up in cotton wool to play Home Axis the the Fishbowl South Final!!
3 votes - Western Titans - Uditi Samdup - 36 points 15 rebounds 3 blocks
What can't this bloke do... obviously it was against rubbish opposition but he shot 17-21 for the game, look for this guy in the final to do some damage to the injury struck Home Axis. This will drag him level with TT but it remains to be seen whether TT did enough to pick up a vote and take the win.
2 votes - Western Titans - Bento Filho - 18 points 19 rebounds 5 assists
Bento was also very effective with 8-13 shooting but again we cannot read to much into it considering his opposition.
1 vote - Western Titans - Norbert Carey - 13 points 11 rebounds 4 blocks 3 steals
Norbert rounds out the top 3 for the Titans with a steady performance. A thing to note is his 4 blocks, which is something to be applauded no matter the opposition.

shepparton shooters vs. Possum Chasers 61 - 89
Another big game will see the ever-improving big-men Junel Viojan and Trinh Trinh smash it out. Possum’s held a 14 – 22 lead at the break as TT was on top of Viojan with TT having 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists for the quarter. Surprisingly Viojan wasn’t leading his team like TT was, which could explain the 31 – 43 lead for the Possum’s at halftime. TT led the way with 11 points 8 rebounds.
Shooters just didn’t have the firepower to keep up with the Possum’s who extended their lead to 22 points, running away with this one in the 3rd. With the scoreline at 43 – 65 TT continued to shine with 15 points 14 rebounds 4 assists, while the Shooters were being held up by Santino Ceschini with 17 points and 7 rebounds. The game showed so much promise as a contest but it fizzled in the last with the Possum's already on a comfortable margin, all the 4th quarter did was widen it a little. Carl Halliday had a nice last quarter finishing with a team high 20 points, while Ceschini had the game high 26 for the disappointing Shooters.
3 votes - Possum Chasers - Trinh Trinh - 19 points 16 rebounds 4 assists
TT seals the Season 4 South MVP Title with this game. Congrats!!! Well and truly deserved it with another classy performance where in only 32 mins he had a double double and set the Possum's up for an emphatic win.
2 votes - Shepparton Shooters - Santino Ceschini - 26 points 9 rebounds
Santino didn't quite make it to a double double but with Viojan being AWOL compared to his usual standards, Santino was the only shooterto look like they were worthy of a vote.
1 vote - Possum Chasers - Carl Halliday - 20 points 7 rebounds 2 steals
Carl came on as he does when TT hits the bench for some rest, and with 50% shooting he iced the game with his 20 points in 25 minutes.

Match of the Round
Bainsynators plebs vs. Eggplantpopolopolous 104 - 98
With the 8-2 Eggplant’s going in favourite it looks to be a very hard night for the Plebs which may see them drop to 9th with a heavy loss. The Plebs stunned the Eggplants early jumping to a quick 8-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Plebs continued to rampage to a 25-10 over the highly fancied Eggplant’s although it has been said that the Eggplants had some poor minute management recently. Gniewosz ‘Snotman’ Sznajder led the game with 13 points. Despite the best efforts of Eggplant manager ChuckyFE to spur his team on to rape the Plebs in the second, the Plebs seemed to be in good form tieing the quarter 22-22, and taking a 47 - 32 lead into the second half. 'Snotman' continued to dial in from all over the court leading all-comers with 19. No other players were close to equalling that effort in the first half.
Eggplant's again in the 3rd were unable to make any headway into the Plebs lead. The Plebs managed to take the 3rd quarter aswell in a tight 28-26 scoreline. Leaving the Plebs with what appeared a game winning 17 point lead to take into the last. Snotman drained another 6 to take his tally to 25 points for the night. Igotz Arranz arrived in the game in the third, leading his side with 16 points from a handy 8-13 shooting. However in the 4th as time wore on the lead began to tumble. In the first six minutes the Eggplants cut the lead to an achievable 11 points, thanks to more beautiful play from Arranz, who at that point accumulated 26 points. The injury to Plebs center Xavier Suelves began to look as if the Eggplant's would roll through their weaker opponents in the last. But showing great resilience the Plebs held on for a narrow 6 point win. The win gained the Plebs 2 positions on the ladder, but also may have cost the sharks #1 draft pick.
3 votes - Bainsynators Plebs - Gniewosz Sznajder - 29 points 5 rebounds 7 assists 3 steals 2 blocks
A bit of everything for 'Snotman' in this game, but mostly scoring. He dropped 13 in the first quarter which really seperated the two teams for the good part of 3 quarters. Shooting just over 50% for his points he held down the Pleb fort till his teammates reinforced him in the last couple of quarters. Sznajder was also pivotal in shutting down the Eggplant barometer 'Pissonyou' for only 4-14 shooting.
2 votes - Eggplantpopolopolous - Igotz Arranz - 33 points 17 rebounds
An impressive 2 quarter performance by Igotz really brought his side within striking distance late in the last. He scored 20 more points that the second highest scorer on his team which just shows how valuable he was for the Eggplant's. He wasn't missing much from the floor with 15-22 shooting.
1 vote - Bainsynators Plebs - Igor Zakharov - 15 points 9 assists 3 steals
Igor was the one giving Sznajder all his good looks in the first half and can be credited with another 18 of his teams points from his 9 assists. Add 3 steals and you have a good night for the Russian

Mangoloids vs. amos rogues 118 - 16
No real point to report on this game as once again the Guppy leader was AWOL. 102 point loss is what they deserved and gave the Mangoloids 5th on the ladder and a successful season.
3 votes - Mangoloids – Simplicio Ferloni – 33 points 20 rebounds 3 steals 3 blocks
14-14. nuff said.
2 votes – Mangoloids – Jasper Bains – 24 points 10 assists 6 blocks
Nice stats but no opponents
1 vote – Mangoloids - Eder Arbizu – 20 points 11 rebounds 6 assists 4 steals
Fair enough

Home Axis vs. Whompas Donkeys 91 – 75
This was a big game for Homw Axis as it could see them if they won big enough to take the minor championship. Similarly for the Donkeys who could steal 5th with a win. Home Axis started strong winning the first quarter 27 - 20. Paco Garrido again led the Axis as he has so many times this season with 10 points off 5-6 shooting in the first quarter. Dewey Bowers was of course leading the Donkeys scoring with 11. The second quarter was a much closer affair with Home Axis extending their lead by only 2, leading 48 - 39 at the half. Melchor Manzanera took control of the Axis charge in the second with 15 points and 13 rebounds for the half. Dewey continued to score with 20 points for the Donkeys.
Another solid quarter for Home Axis saw them carry a 14 point lead into the last. Manzanera continued to work hard with 21 points and 16 rebounds with a quarter to go. While Bowers continued to drop points with 27 although he was quite inefficient with 12-35 shooting. Home Axis closed out the game for the 16 point win, with Manzanera scoring 33 points and grabbing 19 rebounds, while Bowers had a game high 39 points.
3 votes – Home Axis - Melchor Manzanera – 33 points 19 rebounds
Melchor is a new face on the block and makes an instant impact with an outstanding 15-21 for his 33 points and with the double double he was clearly the best Axis player on the night.
2 votes – Whompas Donkeys – Dewey Bowers – 39 points 4 assists
Dewey did as he always does, scoring massive points with 39, which is more than half his teams points. Although he was inefficient with 17-45, when you score over half your teams points your pretty valuable.
1 vote – Home Axis - Philipp Gartmayer – 18 points 24 rebounds
Gartmayer was handy with a double double 18 points 24 rebounds which is close to worthy of 3 votes in any game but not this one.
