Yeah, definitely detected zero sarcasm. You have to remember what kind of posters we have around here and what kind of ideas there are floating around. I thought you might be a Wolves fan that is overly excited to have more than one good player on your team now! lol

I have a difficult time with people asking about "true point guards" because that is not always something that is easy to define. Many of those that split minutes at pg/sg is because the team does not have a great sg option otherwise. Even though these guys often run the offense and put up 7+ assists per game people will label them as not being a true point guard when they are at least as affective as the other floor generals.
It is like trying to label someone a running QB in football. Steve Young should be considered a running QB because he did it about as much as anyone at the time yet he still was one of the greats.

I'd have to say that derrick rose is the best PG in the game. the pg is supposed to run the floor, and make playsto help the team. Derrick rose does a great job at this. he's always a threat to score and he draws many into the paint. this allows him to dish to someone else, or to draw a foul. If a man can draw many into the paint, and draw attention everytime and either score or get the assist he's a great pG. to be specific the best pg in the leauge. if i were to list my top 10 pgs in order i would say
1.D.Rose
2.Chris Paul
3.Deron Williams
4. Steve Nash
5.Rajon Rondo
6.Kyle Lowry
7.Russel Westbrook
8.Jose Calderon
9.DJ Augustin
10.John Wall
What is d fish doing up there?
Westbrook is good, he averages about 8 ast. a game his only problem is that he hasen't understood the PG role yet, westbrook could be in the top 5 if he just played like a pg and not a sg. It's his 3rd year i beileve so just stay with him, he'll get better. I really like kyle lowry's game! He rebounds, dishes, and scores. He's at six but put him in a better enviroment and give him some more xp, and you'll see his name possibly in the top 3.

You know how you talk about a PG is supposed to make plays, score, get the assist, and run the floor? Well guess what? That's what the Player Efficiency Rating (PER) takes into account among other things. Guess who had a higher PER than Rose? Westbrook. ;) Chew on that...

You saw what Mr. MVP did in the playoffs. We all know the MVP was Durant or Lebron last year. DRose is a good player, but when your PER is lower than Westbrooks, you are absolutely not the best PG....

In his MVP season he did...have not looked this year. Just looked Rose is better this year. Westbrook over the last 12 games though has been absolutely outstanding and has been better than Rose over the last 12 games he has played in PER.
Not that Im saying I would take Westbrook over rose or that he is better, BUT they are about the same player in my opinion. Westbrook has higher FG% and FT% normally and they both shoot about the same from 3. Both are score first PG's and Rose for his career gets about 1 assist more than Westbrook per game. They are both freakishly athletic and both struggled in the playoffs at times last season. There are so many parallels between them it's unreal. The fact is, the hype machine was higher on Rose coming in the league because he was the number 1 pick...therefore he has been anointed as a better player then he actually is. He is a heck of a player, but not the best player or PG in the league.
If I had my choice I'm taking Chris Paul and wouldn't even think twice about it. I was hoping OKC would trade RW for CP3 in the offseason as I think KD and CP3 would bring home a championship. I think OKC still could win this season, but it will be tougher...especially with Eric Maynor done for the season.
