Well..maybe it was just the day you looked. Height, most of the time, for guards doesn't affect their prices. The potential, and their skills determine it. A 6'0 guard would train A LITTLE bit faster than a 6'3 guard, so maybe that could be the case. Try looking again without the potential, but some of the skills you want your guards to have.

And, to the second question, here are the ones I prefer.

Inside Shot - It CAN be trained, but usually doesn't. If you do train it your guard will make more shots inside-the-arc.
Rebounding - Not needed. PF/SF/C should be the only ones with over strong rebounding, unless your players come to you with this.
Shot Blocking - Not needed at all for Guards.
Inside Def - Not needed much, since guards stay near 3 point line.


Think if the opponent drive in and we use man2man defense, the guard ID will be used.
I would think to get at least level 4 of guard ID

Me too actually. I have spend for my guards 2.8M(b4 the change of the economy, now worth at very least 1M+) and for the 2nd 4.2M. They both have pitiful on IS/ID, but the 1st was MVP in CBBA last season, key factor for 1 championship and 1 cup. I really dont see the need to have those big men skills. For the rebounding/interior D i have my big men. Yes every skill that a player have is usefull, but u cant have it all, and for sure doesnt worth to over pay for those.

What i think that is a must for every player: Able to shoot, play D, and pass, everything else is welcomed, but not essential. Thats my opinion

in man to man def if the guard drives inside the defending guards def comes into play.

i did not list them in the order i favor them i just listed why there are useful on a gaurd.

and crazy while you may agree with shaq more, him saying skills are not needed is still completely wrong and so is that a small gaurd only trains a little quicker.

in man to man def gaurds dont stay near the 3 pt line so inside def IS needed.

shot blocking is an extremely useful in reducing 3pts made by other team so is very helpful.

reboundins as i said does help out a bit so again isnt useless

inside shot helps when the gaurd drives it in close, but alot of times his jump shot will come into play first
so this leads me to believe it to be the lesser of the skills to worry about.

Well i never said that having a skill is a problem, but a guard having inside skills is not for me a factor to overpay a player thats for sure. I will take 13 on OD and 2 on ID for my guard against the 11-4. Even of me that i play inside tactics on 85% of my games my player Hansbernd Leberecht who has 2 on IS playing PG end up with 19.4 points per game 48.3 on shooting 39.1% on 3's. 3.6 rebs. My team was top4 rebounding team on my league too. Do u see any real reason for me to ask for a G with higher rebounding? or IS? i dont think so.

If we are talking about SF's is an other story, but still even those the elite teams have specialized, depending on there tactics that are using, so yes i tend to agree more with shaq than u

its not really necessary unless you are planning to run a certain type of offense. its more of a luxury rather than a necessity

reread the first post, he asks about the four big man skills on a guard to be rated, not to rate them against guard skills, i totally agree with your post that id take a few pops on any of the actual guard skills then on big man skills for a guard, but this is not what he asked.

and you just totally contradicted your self shaq said the only important one was inside shot, which you just gave an example of how its not needed, like i said jumpshot is higher so the player pulls up on the drive and shoots rather then continuing to the hole.

so again i ll say out of the four big man skills i believe the def based ones are better and that my thoughts on them are based solely on rating them against each other as was asked in the first post.

still agree with shaq? even after giving an example that was completely the opposite of what he was saying?

I will take passing/driving well over of those. Actually i cant see why a SG needs IS/ID.
