they´d have to pay at least one week salaries, would not only increase the risk but probably would lower the financial gain severely

What if Attendance revenue was split 50/50 in playoff games and ticket prices were increased by 20% (or x%). Playoff tickets tend to be more expensive anyways. This price increase would obviously have to not lower attendance.

The idea of no salaries is also a very good one. Often in RL pro sports the league pays the players during the playoffs.
