PART B

GAME 5: statesmans v The Legends678 94-88 (39664621)

Although the statesmans put more effort into this game, there was nothing separating them at 3 quarter time. In fact they were level after the first, one point separating them at the 2nd and one point separating them at the final change. It seems that that extra enthusiasm allowed the statesmans to pull away when it mattered to score a 6 point win. A good, close game.

3 votes: R. Viladrau (S) 25 pts, 19 reb (7 off) 9.5 rating
2 votes: B. Elliott (TL) 24 pts, 5 reb, 7 asts 11.0 rating
1 vote: H. Bracken (S) 18 pts, 7 reb, 5 asts 7.5 rating

The statesmans’ 2-3 tactics helped Viladrau get the 3 votes over Elliott. Bracken only just got the single vote over Varditis.

GAME 6: CROCKERS v Glenvale Cheaters 95-79 (39664619)

Glenvale showed why they’re in the hunt come finals time, going toe-to-toe with the CROCKERS in the first quarter and actually taking a 3 point lead into the second. However, the CROCKERS’ big guns in McPhail and Javadov started to fire and quickly reeled in the Cheaters who were not even going to cheat their way to victory this time. The CROCKERS continued to pull away with a strong 16 point win with both teams putting in the same effort levels. OF course, while the Cheaters seemed to hold their own in this one…kind of…the CROCKERS $1.2 mil purchase of a monster Centre will no doubt send the likes of the Vikings a clear message: They’re here and they’re serious about going back to Div II!

3 votes: R. McPhail (C) 26 pts, 4 reb, 4 asts 12.5 rating
2 votes: C. Orozco (GC) 23 pts, 20 reb 11.0 rating
1 vote: M. Javadov (C) 18 pts, 8 reb 12.0 rating

GAME 7: Moorditj Magick v greenbank raiders 136-50 (39664624)

With the Magick’s new recruits starting to find some form and rookie sensation Johnny Dogan beginning to find his range, the Magick reminded the raiders that they were in Div III in a game that can only be described as a massacre. Despite putting more effort into this one, the raiders were dealt an 86 point hiding.

3 votes: J. Ardura (MM) 23 pts, 13 reb (5 off as SF) 4 asts 10.0 rating
2 votes: N. Khedri (MM) 19 pts, 9 reb, 3 stls in 29 mins 14.0 rating
1 vote: J. Dogan (MM) 25 pts in 33 mins 9.5 rating before being injured!

GAME 8: Doons Dazzlers v CARLTON SUNS 124-123 (39664622)

This was the game of the round. Both teams put in the same effort and both teams looked outside to score. The SUNS opened up with a massive 40 point 1st quarter, followed by 30 and 29 in the 2nd and 3rd yet the Dazzlers held in there, unwilling to let the SUNS claim this victory on home soil. At the final break the CARLTON SUNS had a 14 point lead and had their hands firmly on the away win. Enter the Dazzler’s home crowd whose deafening cheers carried their team forward. The three-pronged attack of Tucinas, Antal and Digger were instrumental in the final quarter combining for 27 points in a quarter that saw the Dazzlers pile on 39 points. It seemed fitting that having scored 12, 4th quarter points, that Tucinas’s final basket gave the Dazzlers a one-point lead which they held on to, recording a memorable come-from-behind win against a stronger opponent.

3 votes: R. Tucinas (DD) 30 pts (12 in the 4th quarter) 11.0 rating
2 votes: S. Giz (CS) 28 pts, 4 reb, 6 asts 9.5 rating
1 vote: G. Patel (CS) 36 pts, 5 asts 8.0 rating
