U21 SGP - Season 16 : Game 2 : Taiwan held off Singapore 4th quarter charge, end with 97-83.
At least they fight, but bigteam still bigteam, they know how.
Taiwan used their well-known teamplay to survive after Singapore opened the 4th quarter with 11-4 run, cutting deficit to 86-76. But Quah Kah Jun hit the big triple, 20yo giant Cai Jen Chen overpowered Lim Shi Xin, and Taiwan suddenly up to 91-78 and never threatened again, ended up the fight with 97-83. Zhou Jing Nan led Taiwan with 18pts, Chan See Hai 17pts, Liang Wei Kang with 14pts and 16reb.
Singapore were putting up some fight, resulted in a tight 1st half, where Ang Kok Long, Ahamat Ismail and Chan Teck Yao frequently connected with their long range shot. But they seemed run out of gas at 3rd, although Peh Jian Long scored 9pts at 3rd after miserable 1/5 FG at 1st half, and then Taiwan started to own the game with their largest lead 82-65 going to the 4th. Then the Singapore switched to bigger lineup, led by Goh Wen Shun and PJL, resulted on 11-4 run, before the well experienced Taiwan crews take it over again.
Chan Teck Yao led Singapore with 17pts, Peh Jian Long with 15pts and 9rebs, Ahamat Ismail and Ang Kok Loong with 14pts.
Singapore actually were expected to be blown out, but still capable to maintain a fight to the upper echelon team. But a lose is a lose, and now Singapore is 0-2, and in need to win some game in order to advance to 2nd round.
Singapore next opponent will be Macau at next Monday, which they will attempt for their 1st W.
