Things can change a lot in a week and there was a lot of movement this week. The Calamari despite the disappointing loss by the Goldfish moved much further ahead mainly due to holding first, second and third place in the East. Team Kevin was also a large improver moving from last place to second. An official spokesperson from Team Kevin said, "The scoring system used this week is far superior to the one used previously but we still think it can be improved." The Sharks were rocked by the news that this may be a rebuilding season for Koopasaurus and the Guppies had a very disappointing performance from Zazzocalypse (2nd in the Big 8 in division II.2) who were dismantled by the Knylala Knights.

There were two classic matches in the East this week with an all Kevin match between Beasts Red (division III) and Eggplantpopolopolous currently sitting 5-3 in division II, which ended with the Red's just coming out with the close win.

Even more exciting was the rivalry match Persepolis Immortals vs. Possum Chasers. These teams who came from the same division IV have had many issues over the year with much sledging from Xerxes towards PossumPete. You could feel the anger in them as they gave the Chasers 52 free throws to their 14. With 8 seconds to go the Immortals had the ball and were one point down, the Immortals new $300,000 SF took the shot over a $5,000 benchwarmer with one second to go. He missed and national team player Trinh Trinh came up with the rebound and the match. An instant classic!

First an apology. I found an error in the spreadsheet that was giving the Sharks the wrong total. Hard to believe but it was an honest mistake and has now been fixed. If there totals ever do not add up to 300 then you can tell me that something is wrong right away.

For the Calamari it was a mixed week with Melbourne Goldfish missing a buzzerbeater to stop Monkey Business and Chelsea using the worst tactics ever against Viral Infections. However this was balanced by the dominant performance by the three Calamari teams in the East with all three continuing their unbeaten run. Well done by Western Titans, Cowboys From Hell and Possum Chasers.

At the top of the individual ladder still sits Pancakes with Jam and Cream who will probably not be vulnerable until near cup finals time when they may be tempted to spend a lot of enthusiasm to try and snatch the national cup.

In second spot is the very lucky Monkey Business who were in the match of the week and still look good to take second spot this season In third we have everyone's favourite team, run by the most popular guy in the league, Datzilla's Da Fat Boy Slim. He and abigfishy were at his house last night watching the games from the spa, then they shared a sauna and gave eachother a rubdown.

The East is still dominated by the old teams much to the chargin of Team Kevin and the Guppies. When the best of the new teams is the almost as popular as Datzilla: Xerxes, in 6th, you know something is wrong.

While I can't say there were any big upsets this week Slam ! and their $300,000 C came close to one only going down by 5 to Da Fat Boy Slim and Kye Duffill in a game where all the massive big guys neutralised eachother and the game was determined by the battle of the PGs. If the Melbourne Goldfish could have taken down Monkey Business it would have been an upset but the Monkey Business defence was just too strong making the Goldfish miss all 4 shots in the last 30 seconds to hang onto the 2 point win.

Finally while it wasn't a surprise seeing Kynlala Knights utterly demolish Koopasaurus (keeping them to 5 points in the 3rd) shows that Koopasaurus is on an express elevator ride, going down, back to division II.

Well it was an action packed week with the grudge match of the season being super exciting, matches being decided in the last seconds and me being utterly destroyed by Pancakes.

The Calamari are still on top of the ladder but it is not due to the efforts of their teams in the West but instead the Eastern Squid are top, second and third on the ladder all on 4-0 and the next best team is 2-2. Looks like a season of domination for the Calamari in the East.

In the West Kevin has got a firm grip on the top spot and the Knights are right on the tails of the Monkeys looking for second. The Guppies have also been making great progress in the West now holding two of the top five spots. Can one of Zazz or Monkey knock off the Knights or the Pancakes? It will be a popular result in Guppyland if it does happen.

The Sharks are still in second spot but again it is more due the the great results in the East than the West. They hold places 4, 5 and 6 in the East. They also had an excellent win when Maggots upset Slam ! and their $340,000 man in a very close game.

What an eventful week. The Naker Virus had 40% of his team foul out early to be smashed by DFBS. The Seagulls led for all but about 40 seconds of their match with "the best team in Aussie division II" the Kynlala Knights, but it was the wrong seconds for them. The Guppies had a disaster of a week with Zazzocalypse being their only winning team (although Monkey Business played so well against Pancakes with Jam and Cream only going down by 14 that it must stand as a moral victory). The Eastern Calamari have an amazing record with all three teams still undefeated on 5-0 each, incredible!

But there is one really big piece of news.

There has been a shift, a changing of the guard, for the first time, ever, team Kevin have passed the XBB Sharks and have entered second position on the Federations table. C-Cat and mllama would like to say that it was all due to them however the truth is that the improvement has mainly been due to the Knights steady climb and everyone's favourite team, the Persepolis Immortals.

Meanwhile the Guppies are gasping for breath holding last spot in the West and all three last spots in the east.

Finally in breaking news from the Fishbowl South there were two major upsets with the Hobos defeating chumunga watermelons. Coach Fannypacman now has "proof" that his team is better than those he is trying to be traded with. Finally in the battle to avoid the wooden spoon the Gold Coast Sharks defeated the Geelong Vipers 144-135. After this exciting and high scoring match the coach of the GCS was asked for comment and the reply was "______".
