The answer to the question (which was asked as recently as last week in this forum, I believe), is that enthusiasm and effort are not directly comparable in terms of game performance. It has been pointed out in the past (by a BB, no less), that effort affects the randomness in the game by tilting it towards the team putting more effort in. Enthusiasm directly affects defense and rebounding.

Given that there isn't even an explanation of what "roughly equal" means, I find the approximation completely useless as a guideline.

If you had written that in the first response, I would've been happy and a lot of people (including me) would've learnt something, thanks.

Would you by chance know in which thread that statement was made by a BB? I don't think you lie, I'd just like to read the original version.

By the way:
the question (which was asked as recently as last week in this forum, I believe)

I guess that question is asked almost every week, just like a number of other questions... Would be cool if there could be a way to teach noobs all those little things from the beginning, that would help the forums, I think.

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

If you disagree with the recommendation, how about doing something productive like requesting that it be stricken from the FAQ instead of making snooty comments to people in the forum?

One of the best BB coaches in the world explained it to me like this:

Your enthusiasm is going to affect your defense and rebounding. So if you have a very high enthusiasm guys with strong OD, are going to play a lot better as if their OD, were nearly twice that, if the enthusiasm is high enough.

Your tactics, TIE, Normal, Crunch affect your offensive effort. Its going to affect players effort on cutting and doing their part in an offensive attack.

So for that reason, you cant say 11 enthusiasm equals any normal....it doesnt compare working parts.

However, this is why having high enthusiasm can allow you to not only play well and win when you TIE, but get a huge victory. If your defense is stellar, you don't have to shoot over 40% to get a large victory. This of course, assuming you have a big enthusiasm advantage over your opponent, and his roster isn't head and shoulders better than yours.

Do you agree that if you play TIE at 5 vs Normal at 5 then you are at a disadvantage (Assuming both teams are exactly the same and on a neutral court)?
Do you agree that if you play TIE at 11 vs Normal at 5 then you are at an advantage (Assuming both teams are exactly the same and on a neutral court)?

I think that both of the above statements are true based on my experience.
Assuming you agree with both of those, it stands to reason that there is a certain value of enthusiasm where playing TIE at that enthusiasm level will not be similar to playing Normal at 5. Based on how my team has done in the past at different levels of enthusiasm, I believe that this number is around 8.

Hi Naker.,...In your example, specificially #2, I believe you are at an advantage overall, but comparing offense to offense, you are at a disadvantage with your TIE vs his Nornal. However, your defense will play at such a high level that his normal 5 offense will get crushed by your 11 defense. Also, your defense will create free scoring opportunities throughout the game and give your TIE offense free scores.

So overall, yes you have the advantage, but only because of the what the 11 enthusiasm does to your defense.

I've heard around that TIE at 10 is the same as Normal at 5. Not sure though.
