Well it was so good to finally get the league underway. The previous one to two weeks had been a bit of a nightmare of organisation and conflict so it was great to actually be playing. And there were some brilliant games, most notably when the Smeltztroopers took on the mighty Lewisham Wombats and beat them, but there was also a nail biter between JW City Bulls and the Western Titans that saw Titan big man Udi Samdup win it on the buzzer by one.

The numbers are a lot bigger this season with an extra league but one (great) thing that hasn't changes is the Calamari are still on top. Despite a great off season that saw Kevin pick-up the second best team in Australia in the Black Label Society and the Guppies score the best in the draft nabbing both ABBL powerhouse Bell Park Super Cats and division II strongmen Glenelg Tigers the Calamari managed to quietly add three quality teams with All-Sorts, Lordy and the Persepolis Immortals .

The Calamari actually have the top spot in all four leagues with Baxter Bogans on top in the West, Chelsea Seagulls in the East, All-Sorts in the South and Persepolis Immortals in the North. However this was a very odd week with game shapes and rosters all over the place and both Kevin and the Guppies look to be much stronger in coming weeks.

It was a great start to the season and good luck everyone for the next exciting 11 weeks of The Fishbowl.
