There's been a rather large shift in power with Kevin losing 9 points and dropping to the bottom of the fishbowl with the Sharks among other bottom-dwelling manifestations (poop). The Sharks gained the lost points and have started to make their move up the ladder. A few great matches were played this week, most notably Kynlala Knights vs Victoria Mages as well as ABBL heavyweights Black Label Society and Baxter Bogans battling it out for Fishbowl Domination in the west.

SASTROOPERS vs. JW City Bulls 88 - 27

I'm sure we've all heard and been warned about the Kevin virus. It seems there's a new disease on the block. Dire Wolfs Ukrainian Doctor has labeled this a "Sharks Epidemic". When prompted to explain this the Doctor replied with "Я кращий". Unfortunately a translator was not present and we could not decipher this seemingly short phrase but from what we've seen, the epidemic seems to only effect the Sharks and cause what would usually be a close match to turn into a thrashing of epic proportions.

Match of the Round
VictoriaMages vs. Kynlala Knights 92 - 88

What a game! The old rivalry was rekindled this week with Sharks weapon Splitj taking on Calamari and ABBL newcomer Iwen and his Kynlala Knights. The first half went as expected with Iwen taking a 9 point lead heading into the locker room. The story of the night being Shaun McArthur getting into foul trouble with 4 fouls in the 3rd quarter! and eventually fouling out. Leaving Iwen without his MVP point guard and a great big hole in his defenses. Splitj did a great job taking advantage of this with his SG Mierko García holding a shooting clynic going 8-14 including 3-3 from downtown. If 4 quarters weren't enough how about we throw in an Overtime for giggles? Yes this match was too close to be called after the mages battled their way back into the game in the second half tying it all up at 79 all. The Knights had trouble scoring in the 5 minute OT with Dell'Asta missing some key shots, García on the other hand was everywhere, grabbing a steal with less than 33 seconds to go and sinking a tough 3 to put the mages up by 2 with 24 seconds left on the clock. After that it was all over for the Knights.

Week 3 is now done and dusted and it's the Guppies once again sitting on top of the fishbowl with no one else in sight. The Calamari and sharks are battling it out for second place while Kevin are all alone on the bottom no doubt digging for treasure. A few close games this week Slammers vs JW, Cowboys from Hell vs Seagulls, Mangoloids vs Shepparton Shooters. But most notably our match of the round ;)

Match of the Round
CROCKERS vs. Rampaging Marmots 101 - 100

Oh dear where do I begin. This was a classic Inside vs Outside battle with the lead changing hands numerous times, the biggest lead was 11 points in the 2nd quarter held by The CROCKERS but the Marmots brought it back to single digits in time for the half time break. From there on it was neck and neck point for point. Well done to the Marmots for getting to the line 18 times and fouling out 2 of the CROCKERS players. It was just not meant to be for the RabidCamel on this night being forced to foul on a dunk by Ante Vidmar when it was tied at 100 a piece with 0:00 left in the 4th quarter. Ante Vidmar missed his first free throw before sinking his last and sealing the game for the bevers. Great effort by both teams this week and I hope to see some more cracker games on the table next week.

Awards
The balls of steel award goes to Mr. Ante Vidmar who put up the winning free throw with no time on the clock.

First I have to confess that I don't have a spreadsheet for these this season so I just did these fast by hand. I hope there are no mistakes. Hard to see any trends when we haven't had ladders for so long and sorry I had my finger off the pulse for so long, every spare minute on BB was going to India for ages but now that is mostly settled.

Well as expected the Guppies are the strongest and it starts at the top with teams like Black Label and Zazz leading the way. The Calamari are close thanks to three strong performers, Baxter Bogans leading the West, the Cowboys one of the top two teams in the East and the powerful Titans in the South. The Sharks are struggling in the West but make up quite a bit in the East where SASTROOPERS and Da Fat Boy Slim and doing very well. Fianlly after narrowly coming second last season Kevin have sunk to the bottom, no surprise their top teams are performing well but their lack of depth shows and a good draft pick next season will be needed to even things up.

Well that is it for this week Fishbowl fans. I have tried to get things going early and I will be hassling the other guys to get everything caught up as soon as possible.
