Well, without further ado, the long anticipated interview is nigh!

Question 1: "Firstly, Hookz, congrats on arriving in Div II having finally escaped Div III.12. So, what are your plans now that you've got here? Are you looking to simply survive or is your recent purchase ($144k C, Rasilla) a shot across the boughs of your opponents?"

The Dreamers choose to make an impact. We have no young trainees to develop and are out of the cup early, so our focus now is solely and wholly on the league. We will do what we can to win every game from here on out..

Question 2: "8 seasons in Div III.12. Wow! How did you stay motivated for so long?"

Training.. Initially training D Chan was my only motivation to stay in BB. However, once i got Courreges and decided to train him from 18 years old, it was easy.. Now in div 2 I am not training as much, i am not as motivitated! need to fixt that.. Also, 3.12 was awesome due to the community there.. If not in 3.12 with such a great group of guys, would prolly have quit a long time ago! I like the fact i have been able to train a U21 player.. gives me a warm mushy feeling inside :D

Question 3: "Well, I'm sure, Hookz, you would have rather promoted as Champions than being the BOT promotee. Does promoting this way place more or less pressure on you coming into your first season in Div II?"

I dont think so.. I think it places more pressure on the div 2 teams.. The seasons of teams sitting on the salary floor and surviving relegatiion battles or finishing 5th are over.. with the batch that promoted this year, staying in div 2 is going to be a lot harder for everyone.. Good luck to any team that thinks they can hit the floor and stay in div 2 next season...

Question 4: "So, you and Bainsy, unseparable as siamese twins. You both escaped Div III.12 together and...you both arrived in Div II.1 together! Who is going to promote first and why?"

I would say neither, but bainsy will relegate first :D True story tho, Bainsy did beg BB-Marin to be placed in the same league as me.. I dunno why, i gonna kick his arse :D

Question 5: "Finally, have you forgotten completely about Chan or is he still in your thoughts? Do you regret selling him?"

Who? Chan is my favorite player still, as i drafted him and watched him tear it up in 3.12 for season after season.. Selling him was the hardest and smartest thing i did.. I was training guards and he didnt fit the profile.. I am now condifent i have 2 better rounded players than Chan, so overall the team is better off! Chan was good but had major issues.. Csorgo and Courreges are far better trained!

A big thank you, Hookz, for answering these questions. +1

Well, Holtz, thanks for volunteering:

Question1: Well, Holtz, as Big Fish noted, you're an old "new breed" this season having begun your BB journey back in Season 5. More importantly, you have spent 11 of your 17 seasons in BB in Div II.1. Wow! How does it feel to return to the very same Div II you relegated out of not so many seasons ago?

It feels like the BB Gods still need to punish me for my previous sins. It is a long history in the league, maybe too long, but in the end it is probably consistently one of, if not the best, league in the Aussie community. There is great banter, strong games, strong teams, and some rivals with long histories. I have had my share of interesting rivals in this league, including probably the most famous one of pwanage, who ironically I replaced. Overall it is good to be back in II.1.

Question2: Having spent so much time in Div II, what nugget of wisdom can you offer hose teams, like myself, who find themselves in div II for the first time?

The only nugget I probably have will help you not get promoted into ABBL. Each league you go up is a big jump, so being in a Div II for the first time would seem like a big difference, you can no longer cruise along getting the wins without thinking. Each position on the court is important, and you can lose a game through 1 weak position. The managers are good enough to be able to work out how to defend your strength in attack and expose your weakness in defence. You can no longer win with 2 monster players and the rest filling in the gaps.

Question 3: Back in Season 13 you spent a season in the ABBL after promoting from Div II.1. Since then you have, it would seem, banked and trained...a sizable fortune. So much so that in the past few seasons you have spent more than 6 million dollars! Your current roster salary is about $340k and you have a healthy mix of youth and wisdom. Does your pot of gold have a bottom? Should your fellow Div II.1 opponents be wary of the Meateors ability to spend?

I have a different strategy now, but in the end I do not have a bottomless pit of money. I am starting to get more interested in training youth in certain positions, buying experience in others. No need to worry, I do not see myself spending much more this season.

Question 4: Enough about your team. Who is Holtz? What floats your boat in the real world? For someone like myself who knows little about you, the man behind the mask, what should I know about Holtz?

In other games like Hattrick, I am G-O-M (grumpy old man). But I have a family with 4 kids all in school, my escape time is games like Buzzerbeater. Worked in the security industry for ages, including 10 years as a cop in NSW. Love all types of sport, have even been known to sit down and watch a game of curling. Holtz I take from Gustav, the classical composer of the planets (Mars, the bringer of war, is a great piece of music). Love the AFL, love the Magpies.

Question 5: All right, enough of the personal shit! It seems fair to say that you've had a few players in your time in BB. Who is/was your favourite player and why?

Sosaia Carrington (5151377) He was a home grown, I think I picked him up in my first draft. He always had a happy knack of being able to play big, take control of a game and win it in the last quarter. Time and time again Carrington would explode in the 4th and win a game for me.
