After reading all about this season's draft it's all a bit disappointing. I spent a mere $10k on scouting and got this guy:

[Australia]
Scott Michael (27605687)
Shooting Guard
Weekly salary: $ 2 907
Role: draws a paycheck
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 0
Age: 19
Height: 6'2" / 188 cm
Potential: hall of famer
Game Shape: respectable

Jump Shot: average Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: average Handling: awful
Driving: average Passing: awful
Inside Shot: atrocious Inside Def.: atrocious
Rebounding: atrocious Shot Blocking: pitiful
Stamina: awful Free Throw: mediocre

Experience: atrocious

Not sure what I want to do with him. Could get some cash for him on account of potential but then again maybe I should make him my 3rd trainee. His height and potential are good, his starting JS, JR and OD are okay but his secondaries and age suck. Hmmm.

i did some analysis of our draft as a whole (see below for the full post) - but the key message was peak salary being $4783 BUT the next best salary was $3300.
So i think u might be right. Maybe they are calculating them 'lower' in general now as well compared to previous seasons?

OK season 21 draft stats for Div II.3

First off in summary - what a shite draft.
Number of players in the draft with that potential.

announcer 1
benchwarmer 14
role player 6
6th man 9
starter 3
star 7
allstar 4
perennial allstar 1
MVP 3

That equats to 3 players with 5 ball potential, 5 with 4 ball potential, 10 with 3 ball, 15 with 2 ball and 15 with 1 ball.(or thereabouts).... Either way, 30 players were useless as trainees. But seriously, 14 benchwarmers? unbelievable.

I graphed salaries, and in general, as the pick number goes up, the salary goes down, which suggests that some people were actually picking according to star rating. Peak salary was $4783 BUT the next highest salary was nearly $1300 less than the top..... 25 draftee's had a salary UNDER $2000. whilst another 15 had a salary between $2k and $3k which means 40 players in the draft had a salary under $3k, which is just staggering.
In ther first round, 11 teams got their first pick, 4 teams got their second pick whilst Tannum tantrums got their 3rd pick. Proving again, that all you need to do, is find 3-4 players worth drafting, and you will get him. Even in the second round, the lowest preference was 7th.

The general consensus on the forums is that the old salary formula was being used for rookies/low skills but now rookies are just in line with current salary formulas.

right - so peoples expectations of what a 5-star A+ grade talent shouldnt really be based around salary anymore, because, with most other things, salary is no longer an accurate guide for this.

thanks for confirming.

Roughly a 25-30% decrease in salary calculation. So any draftee with 4-5k+ salary is like the old calculation of 6-7k+ draftees.

yer cool, id figured as much, but it never really affected me so i never looked into it.

still... 14 benchwarmers. If they are gonna do that, then there needs to be a new staff member called "Carpenter' and he will specalise in making longer benches, which are in dire need of warming.
