in one of the posts , i think a bb said you would lose out on more money trying to come 5th then you would by coming 4th.

so wouldnt fourth be better ?

Zyler is right.

You aren't making much money in 5th at all. You pretty much break even.

You don't pay players salaries, but you still pay staff salaries and scouting. Which cancels out TV and Merchandising revenue.

the other point you didnt mention is that your fan base will be effected by you not making the play offs

thus your long term arena attendence will be effected = a loss of money for a whole season

that is not in fact true... coming 5th will save you money especially in the higher leagues... where staff and scouting can be no more then 50k per week compared to div2 and abbl salaries which are from 350k and above.

come 5th and only lose staff and scouting expenses.
come 4th in div2 and u get 200k from arena (away game) but lost 350k in player salaries.
come 3rd ditto.
come 2nd and u get 400k from arena (home game) but lost 350k in salaries. profit 50k.

the situation the GM was pointing to was that just say you were coming 2nd or 3rd or 4th and you lost games purposely to come 5th then you would lose a lot more revenue due to decreased ticket sales from losing games... but if you tried your best and still came 5th, then I think you would be better off then 3rd or 4th.

that doesnt make sense from the fans stand point :)

if you try your hardest 4th will still be better then 5th , and get you better attendance that season n the following one.

well obviously if the difference between 4th and 5th was 5 games
then it would be better to come 4th since u got way more wins meaning way more arena revenue
but if its only a 1 game difference, wouldn't u tank a few games to try to come 5th? lol

next season is next season =P right now we are talking about this seasons PO run.

how i understood it , the diference in finishing fourth - compared to finishing 5th in the next seasons effect on attendance is more then what you will save by coming 5th

haha...talking about bottlenecks. Look at II.2

As usual we get the annual ABBL deliberate tanker that wants to train a player out of position which will then surge back from D2. Its been now 3 seasons in a row we got a tanker causing a huge bottleneck for genuine D2 teams trying to make ABBL.
