Well all, it's been nice knowing you!

After a very sad season for me, I am heading back to Div III and will probably need to shake up my team a little. A full season of inside training will certainly skew my salary greatly and I don't think the Div III revenues will be enough for me.

Sorry to disappoint many of you by not bringing a more challenging game when we met, I lost heart after the all-star game and forgot to log in for almost 2 weeks. I seriously screwed up my players game shapes and just could not offer the best I have. Good luck to you all, see you in 2 seasons!

Yes, this is a tough league.

I thought East Siders had a decent team and they fell to the bottom of the standings.

Best of luck in Div III.

I wanted to congratulate my son on an amazing comeback this season! He doesn't talk much in the forums, and has been real busy lately on a lot of summer activities, so I wanted to sing his praises for him :-) He made a mistake early in the season and had a knee jerk reaction to a loss, and sold his SF. HE did that right before 3 straight road games. He didnt have the money to replace him because he had a bad sell, and then no home attendance revenue.

So his season went into a tail spin..dropped to 2-11 at one point, 2 games back of 7th place. He finally got a decent SF, upgraded his bigs, and after a 7-2 finish he moved all the way to 6th, and won his relegations series in 2 games!! Very impressive finish for the Thunderclan Warriors in a VERY tough league.

Great job Cody!! Keep it up! I am sure your sophmore season will be a contuation of how you finished this season!

Yes, very nice job for the Thunderclan this season.

I was surprised that Antti Pirttimäki was sold. He was a really solid player. Very nice recovery and those guards should be nice next season.

Congrats to Red Fort for staying up as well.

The first game of the Finals clearly went my way. The early fouls on the big Finn and the injury to Ventoso hurt as well.
Hopefully I can close it out at home.

clearly, the better team won. :)

I think our frontlines match up well, but my guards can't keep up with yours, especially that 100k SG.

Maybe a rematch in 4-5 seasons time? I am going to be sad to see you promote, mostly because your team would have got us good tv revenue next season, but also because of the excellent match summaries you sometimes post.

Good luck for game 2.

I am being stretched 6 ways from Sunday, but I have an easier than normal week coming up so....here is my season wrapup!

Shooting between the 2 leagues was very similar with 40.6% in Big 8 and 40.2% in the Great 8. Shooting leaders:
Rocket Science 45.6% and Kiwi Sheep Pimps 44.3%

3pt shooting teams...there really were just 3: Reston, Kiwi, and University Heights all shooting just above 30%(31.5% for Reston)

The league in general was a strong FT shooting league hitting 69% from the charity stripe. Standouts in this arena are:
Ginger Balls: 80.3%
Red Fort 78.1%
Chaos Lords 73.5%

I am going to deviate from the straight numbers and use my calculations for Rebounding and Assists because, well, they just make more sense as a percentage than a straight counting stat.

The best rebounding team in the league....Ginger Balls followed shortly after by Rocket Science and Astral Weeks and GS_Warriors. On average the league grabbed 3 defensive rebounds for every 1 offensive rebound. The great 8 had the only teams that were above the league average in this category as the big 8 appears to be a league full of pansies...err...guards.

Speaking of pansies...those guys without the nuts to take a shot...assist leaders (I define assist leaders by what % of shots had an assist awarded):
Astral Weeks 61.64%
Chaos Lords 60.2%
Rocket Science 58.7%

In reality, it looks like the game engine allows guards to create their own shot much more frequently than a PF or C so it isn't much of a shock that the top teams are typically strong Inside scoring teams.

In general the Big 8 shot more 3pt attempts, but the league leader in 3pt att % was Star Fliers shooting 32.27% of the time behind the arc. Honestly, he may have had one of the top guards in the league, but the final 3pt shooting % was 26.3% for the team...they may have fared better with a few more inside the arc to change things up a bit.

I found this next section very interesting. I have several ways that I do an offensive and defensive efficiency and honestly I'm not sure which is the best method.

In the simplest method the results for offense are:
1. Rocket Science
2. Kiwi Sheep Pimps
3. Reston Thumpers
4. Clan MacLeod
5. Chaos Lords
6. Red Fort

Defense:
1. Rocket Science
2. Reston Thumpers
3. Univ Heights Rojos
4. Thunderclan Warriors
5. Astral Weeks
6. Digging for Change

I don't know that I trust this method much...as using it...Red Fort should have been the number 4 or 5 team MAX in the Big 8.

Using a more sophisticated method based mostly on making stops or making buckets...(rebounding and steals factors)
Offense:
1. Rocket Science
2. Kiwi
3. Reston
4. Astral
5. Univ Heights
6. GS_Warriors

Defense:
1. Rocket
2. Astral
3. Univ Heights
4. Meridian Hill McMornings
5. Digging for Change
6. Kiwi Sheep

Interestingly to me...from the first method, my team ranked 5th in Offense and 11th in defense. In the 2nd which is probably better, but not guarenteed to be...I rank 9th in Offense and 10th in defense. I think it might be because my team plays like a bunch of street thugs sometimes. I may have to adjust the formulas a bit to account for FT points more appropriately.

Something that I do notice now...the best teams in defense commit very few fouls compared to the rest of the league. In fact that may be a better indicator of defensive performance in BB than steals...

Good luck, everyone, and I'll see you next season with an update or 3 as the season goes along.

Great stuff... thanks for putting this together for us. I like your second calculations better since I am actually ranked in those ones. Interesting that Reston isnt ranked defensively in the second #s.

Congrats to Reston for winning the whole thing and moving on to NBBA.

I am always very anxious to see what the draft holds and which teams get placed in our league next year.

I am looking forward to another fun season.

My bold prediction is that Kiwi Sheep Pimps wins the championship next season.

Good luck to everyone in the draft

Thanks, it has been a long road.

I had chances in Season 3 and 8 to promote to the NBBA, but lost. Season 3 it was Turkey Sandwiches and then in 8 to a young Jairo Renteria and 10th Ave Vikings.

I definitely benefited from the double promotion last season that cleared out the top team from each side of the league.

Outside shooting was definitely a strength this season. Picking up Brier made a world of difference by adding a true SG. Brier averaged 32 pts per game in the playoffs and shot 40% from 3 during the season carrying the scoring load. He complemented the development of Kukusi, who went from .118 to .348 from 3 this season and played lock-down defense. A season of JR made a huge impact. Palermo is easily the best all-around SF in the league, even though he does not show up often in the stat lines. Next season will finish off his inside skills and he will be a monster. Lamov was a key pickup to counteract the inside game of Rocket Science and his rebounding was exceptionally valuable.

I look forward to competing in the NBBA next season and best of luck to whichever team comes to visit in Season 17.

Second Team:
Starfish Stabbers
Get that damn French SG out of here...best of luck in the big time.

As for Astral picking my lads to win it all, &!$@ you and your kiss of death, you have just guaranteed Wallis to break his leg and my new Argentinian to get homesick and leave. I have never promoted before you and never will, I am always a step behind in the three year plan.

Rocket Science is my pick.

thanks, but rocket science got killed in the finals, and is probably going to have to sell core members of his team, depending on how much their new salaries are going to be. :) he is most definitely an underdog - woof, woof.
