I'm ashamed of our last result, a loss at home against India while the tournament qualification was at stake. This season, our young players were good, we had the players needed to move forward and I failed to bring this team where it deserves to be.

I will explain more about my bad performance later on.

An unacceptable loss

At the beginning of the season, the main goal was to qualify for the tournament, the plan was simple, either upset a team which looked better than us or win against all weaker teams with a good point difference. After not being even close to get that upset, today, we lost again India, a team which, I believe and with all my respect to them, weaker than us. That loss is unacceptable because we won't be able to make it for the tournament despite the quality of this year squad.

Against India, I decided to go Normal while they went CT, I supposed we were better and with the HCA, we could beat them. With our 2 best outside defenders, I decide to go Full Court Press against their weak guards expecting to steal some balls and push them to commit turnovers. They lost only 13 balls and only 1 for their PG who played the whole game. That was a failure. I thought our inside players could defend well enough against their quality inside players. The two starting inside players scored 72 points with a 33/57 shooting. That was a failure.

Last season was difficult because it was my first and the team wasn't really good, this season, there is no excuses, I feel I failed Malaysia and I feel sorry for the disappointment.

There is one last game against Barbados, a team which just won against Nigeria. We will try to finish showing a better face that what we just did.

This season, we had all the tools to succeed, the tools were badly used and I feel bad because it's the whole Malaysian community. I would not be so disappointed if I had lost win my team.

On the other side, Philippines is so successful, beating the world #1 U21 team twice in a week. You are writing history!

I still feel bad about it, some players are really well trained, they deserved to get to play at least a game of the tournament. For the last game of the season, I will mostly let the 21 year-old play because it will be their last official game. At least, ending the season with a win would ease the feeling but Barbados has 4 wins and they may still qualify. I believe they will give everything they have and we won't have an easy win.

As for next season, 5 current players will remain in the team but it looks like the team will be unbalanced... and Micheal Duan could have been useful to help with that weakness. For the information, two MBBA teams may go back to being managed by a computer soon but they don't have any relevant Malaysian players in their rosters.

I don't want to comment too much about the Malaysia U21 for next season as I may not be the one in charge of the team but I believe you summarized quite well the strength we will have. I don't think next season's squad will be better than this season's squad. We really had some quality players, especially on the wings. Next season, we will also have some quality players but we will miss the 2-3 great players we had.

A prospect for sale: George Voo (34046044) is 19 year-old, he is quite a complete player. Mainly trained to be a SF, he has a chance to make it to the U21 NT if he is well trained. His owner wants 200k for him but may be open to reduce a bit the starting price.
