Yeah I know. The books are usually a lot better cause there are stuff that gets left out like Lord of the Rings which had a slightly different ending to the movies.

I'll get to the books when I stop wasting so much of my time here on BB :P

hmmm I usually read the books after I finish the series since if you have already read it then its kinda spoiled...

speaking of LOTR, are they going to make another movie?

i.e. prequel - "similarion tales"

the book is already.

Yep. I believe they are making The Hobbit which is the prequel to LOTR. It tells the story of how Bilbo gets the ring :)

LOL Bilbo Baggins..

I have a feeling in GoT, episode 6, a lot of LOTR fans will be devastated LOL don't want to spoil it for the non book readers yet =P

I believe there is only 10 episodes this season for book one.. so they can't fit everything from the book into the series, but they are doing a great job so far.. but the Renly/Loras scene was a bit WTF cos I did not read that in the books.

haha yeah...GoT is definitely keeping my interest up and gives me something to look forward to on Monday nights. :)

I think i'll read it when the series finishes to see how much variation there is between the 2. The plots are always interesting and its awesome that everyone seems to have their own little agendas haha.. What a way to finish ep 5 though with Ned being screwed over in a unfair fight. I guess the way they finish the episodes definitely gauge interests and builds anticipation for the next episode as you want to find out what happens.

HBO do good stuff but you just don't get everything you do from the books

Have you seen some of the HBO series like the Tudors or Spartacus? You get a lot from them that you can't possibly get from a book, well one bought from a normal bookstore.

Yeah but (as far as i know anyway) Tudors and Spartacus weren't in depth books before they were a tv series so a little different there.
Making a tv series or movie adaption of a book(s) is very different to making a tv series from scratch that is loosely (often very loosely) based on history or a historical figure.
