Yeah I was looking at Rogers but I didn't want him 7 million dollars bad. Plus I already made my move on Simmons.

Been playing this game since 2009 and never have more than 5m in the bank. Man, do I feel poor seeing all these money flying around the TL.

I've never had more than $1.5MM in the bank. I've always kept my team pretty close to the line. Probably means I keep too deep of a bench, but I like that.

To be clear, I really have no problem with people acquiring these large sum of cash over time. After all, it is a game and there are many ways to play this game. The surprising part for me is how many people are doing that. It used to be that only top teams were throwing around >3m bids. Now, even d3 teams have 3-5m to throw into the TL. We are definitely in a different era.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like this era of high spending on the TL snuck up on everybody. I really was not expecting these high prices.

It really surprised me, for almost two years I was kind of inactive... I just logged in every few weeks to keep my account alive and maybe made a change here or there but mostly I was just in free fall earning money. When I had time to start really playing again I had amassed well over eleven million dollars. I thought that would be enough to buy a B3 team, no problem, but with this new economy it wasn't easy to make it this far and I can tell I will be hard pressed to simply buy my way to the top when 34 year old players are selling for 2 million, and the top NT prospects are selling for over 7.

My best tip for rebuilding teams: invest heavily into the draft & train! You'll save a lot of money training home grown prospects.

Remember: If you're going to lose, then lose -- always aim for that top selection; chances are, you're going to acquire a really nice player...eventually.

Yeah I feel like if I had put the effort into my rebuild I'd be ready to make a move similar to the one you did, unfortunately for about eight seasons all I did was freefall without real training or scouting... I made a ton of money but not nearly what it could have been if I'd been more involved rather than simply logging on to stay alive.

Exactly, you never want to tank aimlessly. I've always improved my team after each rebuild, reaching higher levels than before and gaining experience along the way. If I'm not competing for titles I'm going after that #1 draft selection. There is no in between for me. My favorite part of "tanking" is drafting and training US NT prospects; this gives me a goal to focus on while I'm losing.

Normally, if you finish second, it just means you spent too much money to not promote.
