England suffer disappointing set back against Bulgaria

In the first away game of the campaign, England faced off against Bulgaria. England were set back from the off coming up against yet another normal vs TIE and also a correct GDP for Bulgaria. However Zeus was still optimistic for a victory. England found their offence hard to come by in the first quarter scoring only 18 points but sticking within 3 of Bulgaria. By half time England had improved their offence with Luke Innes and James Gascoigne a respectable 5-5 and 3-3 FG. Going into the second half only down 2 England still had every chance of a victory. However disaster struck shortly after the break with key defensive man Gascoigne injured on a dunk attempt. This paved the way for Bulgaria to open up a solid lead heading into the 4th quarter, a 30-17 3rd in favour of Bulgaria is one to forget about for the England fans. England could not fight back in the forth and a stalemate saw them lose in the end by 15, a cruel twist of fate costing them any chance of a victory. This puts England on 1-1 heading into next week's game away against Bosnia, not an easy bounce back game but Zeus remains confident on a good campaign.

Feeney Lee's Player of the Game: James Gascoigne 7 points 2 assists 1 rebound (19 minutes). Held opposition SG to 7-18

As mentioned above tough loss for us this week, i really didn't want to drop a game so soon and i do think had Gascoigne not gone down we had every chance. On wards to next week where hopefully we can jump back above .500

England bounce back to buzzerbeating victory over Bosnia

Following the disappointing loss to Bulgaria, England set off for a back to back away game against Bosnia. Zeus' boys were unaware of the eventful game that would follow. England jetted off to a 23-18 lead after the first, mostly due to an impressive defensive showing that gave up 11 points through 11 minutes but a lapse for the final minute allowed a 6-2 run for Bosnia. By HT England realised that they were in for a tricky afternoon, Bosnia upping their offence mainly through the inside outside attack of SF Salih Calic who gave Marshall a headache all evening. Going into the half Bosnia had chipped a single point from England's lead, 50-46. The third saw Bosnia made strides and even take their first lead of the game as they again cut into England's lead. However England managed to hang on to see a 1 point lead going into the 4th. A back and forth game in the final quarter saw Bosnia try to pull away up 6 with three minutes remaining but England showed the fighting spirit and pulled back to a TIE game. Heading into the final minute of the game with the scores tied Luke Innes drove to the basket and was fouled. He would miss both FTs and squander the opportunity to give England the lead. On the following possession, already in the bonus..Connor Marshall committed an off the shot foul. Calic stepped up to the line to give Bosnia the lead, and bricked both FTs...de ja vu. Marshall would miss England's next shot. With 6 seconds left Bosnia missed their go ahead basket, The England players charging down the court for the win...Palit pulled up from mid range and....FOULED on the shot! He would miss the first FT to toy with the hearts of the England massive, but would score the 2nd to give England a 1pt win at the buzzer.

Feeney Lee's Player of the Game: Luke Innes 24 points 7 rebounds 5 assists 9-17 (41 minutes)

Big win for England tonight to take us to 2-1. Back to back home games follow as we look to move to 4-1.

An amazing game! Incredible to watch and that foul at the buzzer with the first FT missed was theost dramatic pause I've seen on here in a long time. Great job everyone!

Fantastic win mate and great to get back on track after the disappointment of last week. As for the FT shooting of either side at the end, I don't even think the players could bear the tension, let alone you and the Bosnian manager.

England 129-117 Paraguay England 3-1

England fight off Paraguay in OT thriller

England returned home to face Paraguay in the evening tip off. England looking to move to 3-1 on the season and take a commanding position for seedings. This game would mark the full debut of Jason Fallon of Durham Wasps. Paraguay came out all guns blazing, normalling and attempting to guess a GDP which landed in England's favour as a wrong selection. The game started off brightly for England as the ball was flowing and a high FG% saw them take a 29-23 lead after the first. For the second time this season James Gascoigne left the game with an injury, another bitter blow to an already tough season for England. England tried to settle down following the injury but saw themselves struggle to make any more head way going into HT, only adding one point to the lead. Paraguay would shoot out of the gates in the third, making most of their shots and disrupting the flow for England, a surprisingly high foul count for England allowed Paraguay to make FTs and take the lead going into the forth following a 35 point effort in the third. England would go onto show their fighting spirit in the forth. Down 4 with less than 50 seconds to go, Barker would hit a three from an offensive rebound to cut the lead to 1. Paraguay would make both FTs to extend the lead to 3. Step in the new boy Jason Fallon who looks energised the whole game, he would nail his first NT 3pt shot to tie the game. A stop from England forcing OT.

Heading into OT England looked confident and showed it, tallying a massive 19pts to Paraguay's 7 to run away with the victory in the end. The victory never looked in doubt as soon as OT began. A tough win for England, but one that will definitely feel good.

Feeney Lee's Player of the Game: Jason Fallon 23 points 8 rebounds 5 assists 10-14 (48 minutes) Jason was the hero of today's game. Tieing the game and being incredibly efficient throughout. A debut to remember.

Next Monday England stay at home to Jamaica as they bid for 4-1.
