Dragons can be beaten ;)

I've heard that somewhere before ;)

All I need for that is for Alan Sharpling to be Siegfried.

Losing is always a difficult experience, even more so when you spend the game thinking you've made a big mistake. And indeed, one look at the box score is enough to see where I went wrong today.

The loss of Millar was of course a blow, especially on top of Palit's injury, but I felt going into today that we had more than a decent chance against Germany. I knew they were strong, but we had higher enth, and we also had good game shape. So certainly I can't blame anyone for this.

I didn't expect Germany to predict an outside offence. I had gone outside twice, but those were the two easiest games in the group, and I felt it would look like I wanted us to run up the score in those games. Against Belarus I'd used a neutral offence, so it seemed I'd been unpredictable enough. Equally, I would have thought 3-2 would be too big a risk in an NT game.

Clearly I was wrong.

From the box score it would appear that we lost the game when Sharpling and Marshall were on the bench. Our D wasn't able to stop their LI. Simpson especially had trouble early defending his opponent. Also importantly, rebounding was a huge negative for us. A fairly decent finish to the game made the scoreline at least a little more respectable, but that shouldn't paper over the cracks of what was a fairly poor effort.

Again, I want to make it clear I'm very happy with everyone's game shape today. The loss was down to me. It stings that after a fine result last week, I've let this one slip, and what was looking like a very promising season, has now become much more difficult.

England 90 Italy 93

Another week, another loss. At least this time we can all hold our heads up. Highly ranked Italy, with a squad in very good game shape, were made to struggle for the entire game. We fought right till the end, I couldn't have asked for more from the team, but we came up three points short.

Fouls were a problem throughout, indeed the difference in the score is a lot less than the difference in made FTs, as we tried out best to cope with an outstanding inside offence.

We needed some luck today. The guess with gdp was a calculated gamble. If it was wrong it would have been a disaster, but fortunately it was right, and the bonus was they made a prediction that was wrong. I did think LP might catch them out and it nearly did.

This loss certainly leaves us needing to win our last two games. I felt the croatia game might be tougher than this one, but we'll have to wait to see if the GS gods are kinder to us this week.

McDonough was the standout for us today. 12 rebounds, 24 points and impressively zero turnovers.

On now to next week.

Thanks, though I'd have preferred a win.

Thanks, we did get close. I noticed your game against Croatia before the season started. Interesting tactics of course. I bet Croatia remember it too.

Thanks Lemon too. Also thanks for your help during the previous week when you and Vecx played the part of the Italian coach for me.

We actually dominated parts of the game and had a good lead during the 3rd quarter, but the Italians were just too good in the end.

Before we put Italy behind us, you might want to know the Italians prepare for their games by posting pics of women from whichever country they're about to play on their forum. I was obviously too busy to look, ahem.

I can only really answer that for my own division (II.2). Last week's average revenue was $444,208. More than half of that is attendance.
