Fans are just like girl friend , keep making complaints to you and asking you to improve this and that ... ; buy this stuff and that stuff, blah, blah, blah ...

The best way is to listen to the fans first, but ignore those unreasonable requests, just like keep listening but ignore those unreasonable requests from girl friend. This would save your time and money, so you can concentrate on your next game.

The team is just like a boyfriend then, and for "All things considered, I am happy with the direction the team is going in" is constantly low. Scratching your balls, farting, burping, forgetting important dates, leaving dirty laundry around, blah blah blah...

The best way is to listen to fans all the time, or they will find another team that will spend time and money on them.

only 2 I worry about is if they happy with the direction and rival, maybe the cup performace.. The rest are really a crap shoot

But I really do wonder what goes into how the last season's performance is judged now that this topic has been brought up :O
