Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 7 Part Two

Viral Infections vs. Brisbane Thunder 94 - 75

Both from the "league of death III.6" these rivals already probably already see a lot of each other as revealed by Leeroys most recent press release:

Season 17
Posted on 7/31/2011

Lets do it!

ps. Naker Sucks :)

It is hilarious that both looked inside but defended outside, however Leeroy wont be laughing about the performance of his guards getting horrible ratings of 51, 52 and 51 from his PG, SG and SF positions totally shutting him out of this match.

3 Alex Brecchia Viral Infections 28 PTS 19 REB 5 STL. Has anyone else noticed Naker is going on a youth movement? This is the second youngest player I have seen on his non-tanking team for seasons. At 27 his youth and enthusiasm gave him a level of energy rarely seen on a Naker player and he well deserved the 3.

2 Yuri Abruzzese Viral Infections 24 PTS 6 AST 13.5 rating. Having just been fitted with a new adult daiper Yuri went out and wiped up the opposition helping to create the proficient OD rating for the team with the best individual rating of the match.

1 Cristiano Semoni Brisbane Thunder 25 PTS 13 REB 13.0 rating. While Stuey and friends were stinking it up from the perimeter Cris at least knew where the basket was and also had the second best match rating.

Warren Bulls vs. Skyhook Dreamers 110 - 141

It seems to be a different team each week for the Dreamers, perhaps they have caught a touch of the Naker Virus! But the one thing that is consistent is star player David Chan, who is taking a leaf out of another high profile Fishbowl personality, abigfishy, and starting to train his star properly at a late age. Late is much better than never as Chan showed by dominating this match.

3 David Chan Skyhook Dreamers 39 PTS 13.5 rating. No-one else was in the same universe!

2 Jean-François Courregès Skyhook Dreamers 16 PTS. It is not often an 18 year old will get MVP points but in a brief 19 minute cameo the little Frenchman JFC showed them all a taste of the Jean Fried Chicken of the future.

1 Paolo Aloisi Warren Bulls 25 PTS 5 REB 7 AST. Probably going to be an unpopular call seeing as so many of the Dreamers had great games against insipid opponents but Aloisi had a fantastic all around contribution despite the horrible match rating, a pity he never learnt to play defence.

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 7 Part Three

Hobos vs. Maggots 55 - 77

It was like a Matilda vs a Tiger I in this tank battle with the Maggots severely outgunning the Hobos. That the Hobos flogged an out of shape and outmatched Roger McComiskey for 48 minutes leaving him with just a 7.5 rating is possibly deserving of a troll award! Considering they were totally smashed on the rebounds, hit only 25% of their shots for the match and didn't have any good players this wasn't a bad result for the Hobos, maybe helped by the Maggots PG and SG going a combined 2/20 - I thought they were training guards?

3 José Maura Maggots 18 PTS 18 REB 5 BLK. A very cost effective MVP, not that many $15,000 players getting the 3 votes but he was an efficient scorer and ferocious shot blocker. "Get that weak $#!+ out of here Roger, you're my bitch now!"

2 Christian Brakenhoff Maggots 20 PTS 10 REB 7 AST. The man with the slight flatulence problem helped to make it the Hobos that stunk up the arena and put a Dirty Sanchez on his man Roger.

1 Rubén Pavón Maggots 22 PTS 13 REB. Top scored. Everyone else was horrible.

Quinn Kings vs. shepparton shooters 80 - 91

The shooters have the finals in their sights and they aren't going to let a mere mortal like $80,000 ex-Aussie Rep Billy stop them. V-Thrush and friends dominated the boards 63-38 and achieved an incredible feat.

3 Junel Viojan shepparton shooters 33 PTS 31 REB 14.5 rating. Check those stats again, that is right, a 30-30 game. I can't remember the last time I saw that. Can I please give him all 6 points Leeroy?

2 Billy Siffredi Quinn Kings 15 PTS 11 AST 13.0 rating. Hard to get 11 assists and Billy's efforts kept this game close while his big men were getting slaughtered.

1 Xiong Weipeng shepparton shooters 20 PTS 11 REB. The X-Factor was the other factor in the shooters win, while he is still young and training this team is beatable, I can't imagine how dominant he and V-Thrush will be in a couple of seasons.

With only 4 weeks left before the finals here is the complete MVP list for the North.
The Salami and VJ are on top by a considerable margin and look to take out the top 2 this season. After that it becomes a bit of a bottleneck with Rosales and Yuri fighting for 3rd place.

Stay tuned next week for more action in the only place worth pointing to on a compass ;D

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 8

Looks like this isn't happening so I am happy to step in and do a quick one, I'm getting to know the North a bit doing these.

Viral Infections vs. Quinn Kings 158 - 111

When it is push the ball against run and gun/full court press you will be expecting a big socre but the matchup ratings were very one sided and maybe keeping within 50 points wasnt a bad effort for the one man team Kings.

3 Alex Brecchia Viral Infections 42 PTS 20 REB 17/23 FGS 13.0 rating. Stuffed the stat sheet like crazy and on a Naker team with five real stars that is impressive. Not much opposition from the King's big men.

2 Sidónio Conceição Viral Infections 31 PTS 14 REB 9 AST. There were four guys fighting for this second vote but being one assist off a triple double got him over the line.

1 Billy Siffredi Quinn Kings 36 PTS 7 REB 6 AST 6 STE 12.5 rating. One interesting but not so important stat, in the 45 minutes Billy was on the team was down 37, losing by about a point a minute, in the 3 minutes he was off they lost by 10, more than 3 points a minute. Feeing very hard done by is King's SF Danielius Speicys who top scored with 44 points but couldn't crack a MVP point.

Warren Bulls vs. TeamAkuma 67 - 110

The Bulls took the brave move of running a Princeton offence which can work but would require a much better offensive flow than inept. Akuma has a solid team trapped in the notorious III.6 division but seem to have a love affair with big Canadians. Former Akuma big man 24 year old Bryan Bessette ($ 65 075) was sold off for $900,000 to make room for their new $1,000,000 purchase 26 year old Darrell Pressley ($ 56 372). Both of these Canadian man mountains have dominated their lesser foes.

3 Darrell Pressley TeamAkuma 19 PTS 12 REB 14.0 rating. The Mountain showed why Akuma pays him the big dollars helping to keep the starting Bulls big men to a combined 10 points.

2 Avery Maclean TeamAkuma 23 PTS. This former draft pick of fellow Fishbowl North team the Geelong Vipers had this to say, "Look me in the eyes - it's okay if your scared, so am I. But we're scared for different reasons. I'm scared of what I won't become and you're scared of what I could become."

1 Chen Huilong TeamAkuma 18 PTS 9 AST. He made the scores for the others possible.

Hobos vs. Brisbane Thunder 55 - 81

Another week and another giant turd laid by Roger McComiskey who surely deserves the troll of the week after his previous unsuccesful appeal was followed up with 2/16 and a 6.5 rating the week after. Leeroy delivered a massive spanking to the Hobos mainly due to the incredible efforts from Fro'lad.

3 Cristiano Semoni Brisbane Thunder 29 PTS 25 REB 14.0 rating. While Leeroy is mainly training and saving he does have at least one serious player, Fro'lad.

2 He Anfu Brisbane Thunder 15 PTS 12 REB. Everyone else was a mile behind but in 22 minutes He-Man showed why he is a Masters of the Universe.

1 Jeremiah Honkoop Hobos 12 PTS. Hard to find a good Hobo but at least the Hoon scored in double figures and shot above 25%.

Geelong Vipers vs. Skyhook Dreamers 74 - 52

Every time I think I know what the Dreamers are doing they are doing something different. Are they back in tanking mode? Who knows. But the Vipers had no mercy and were more like constrictors keeping the Dreamers to just 8 points in the final term. When Chan hits 3/18 the Dreamers aren't going to have a good night.

3 François Cartier Geelong Vipers 27 PTS 19 REB 5 AST 6 STE. It was a complete performance from #11 whose opponent had more fouls than points. domination!

2 Lech Jędrych Skyhook Dreamers 16 PTS 25 REB. Despite fouling out his monstrous efforts on the rebounds was the best thing for the Dreamers in this match.

1 Ace Dispo Geelong Vipers 13 PTS 12 REB. Solid double double from the Ace but his poor shooting nearly gave teammate Gkonias the last vote.

Persepolis Immortals vs. Maggots 95 - 69

While it may look a little like a two man game with The Big Salami taking on "Wakey Wakey hands off Breakey", the Immortals have a much deeper squad including the impressivly named Turkish guard A. Kunt. That sort of summed up the night for the Maggots as the Big Salami kept his man to 0/11 shooting.

3 Pashang Salimi Persepolis Immortals 33 PTS 17 REb 14.5 rating. The Big Salami was in fine form totally shutting down the Maggots inside attack while scoring at will himself.

2 Christian Brakenhoff Maggots 27 PTS. With all the tanking the Maggots have done he has been able to get a ton of training and could be a Fishbowl star in a season or two.

1 Hamdollah Aghili Persepolis Immortals 14 PTS. Well obviously what the Big Salami needs for support is The Big Ham. When Ali I fouled out in just 22 minutes it was up to Hamdollah to step up and fill the hole which he did brilliantly.

Coin Collectors vs. shepparton shooters 65 - 86

When playing against the team with the second best player in the entire league V-Thrush, an unstoppable dominating big man the obovious defence to play is ...a 1-3-1? Perhaps the Collectors were using the old Cleveland tactic, guard Michael Jordan 1on1, let him get his but shut down the rest. Well this worked just as well.

3 Junel Viojan shepparton shooters 24 PTS 23 REB 13.5 rating. The V-Thrush smeared himself all over the court and was infections both in attack and in defence.

2 Xiong Weipeng shepparton shooters 20 PTS 15 REB. The X-Faxtor is the man who will be better than Smeltz or Duff-Duff one day. Trained relentlessly from day one this Hall of Famer will only be held back if the shooters can't afford his salary.

1 Porter Viduka Coin Collectors 12 PTS. I have to laugh at this one, a $3,600 guy who probably isn't getting trained gets votes. But he was the most effective Collector which says a lot about the rest.

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 9 Part 1

Geelong Vipers vs TeamAkuma 106 - 85

Both the Vipers and TeamAkuma had something to play for in this 1, ensuring an exciting game for the fans. The Vipers needed a win to keep their playoff dreams alive, and TeamAkuma were looking to stay above .500. The Vipers struck TeamAkuma early, and despite a valiant effort from Akuma's boys in the 2nd half, the Vipers slithered along to a comfortable victory.

3 Carlos Domingos Geelong Vipers - Domingos had a night out against TeamAkuma, dropping 49 points on 19-35 shooting. He got his team mates involved dishing out 9 assists, as well as breaking up TeamAkuma's offence with 4 steals. Carlos played the full 48 minutes, and could have had a much better night had he taken advantage of the 2-3 zone from behind the arc, where he went 5-16

2 Vojtěch Sirotek Geelong Vipers - Sirotek had a solid all round game for the Vipers, working in harmony with Domingos. He went 10-22 from the field for his 24 points, and also contributed 7 assists and 5 rebounds, whilst also doing a good job on defense.

1 Juan Andrés Álvaro TeamAkuma – Alvaro was clearly TeamAkuma's best on the night with 19 points and 9 boards. He shot at a great .750 and had he got more of the ball, this game could have been closer.

Persepolis Immortals vs Brisbane Thunder 86 – 49

The Immortals were looking to keep their perfect record going in this 1, whilst the Thunder were fighting for a top 4 spot. This was to be a battle of the bigs, with both teams trying to get the ball inside. The Thunder took a surprise 1 point lead into the 2nd quarter, but from there it was all the Immortals, with their punishing defense restricting the Thunder to 22% from the field for the night.

3 Pashang Salami Persepolis Immortals – Salimi dominated this game, shooting 12-16 for the night on the way to 28 points. Combine that with 20 points, 6 dimes and a couple of blocks, Salimi showed why he is 1 of the favorites for the MVP in this league.

2 Patap Papkevich Persepolis Immortals – Patap was sensational for the Immortals tonight, doing exactly what his coach pays him to do and that is get the ball to Salimi. Papkevich dished out 8 dimes, helped himself to 15 points, and was a monster on the defensive end with 3 blocked shots and couple of steals.

1 Mohammad Gholam Sharif Persepolis Immortals – Sharif had a solid game for the Immortals, finishing the night with 12 points, 6 boards and was also a big presence on D, forcing 2 steals and blocking a couple of shots.

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 9 Part 2

Skyhook Dreamers vs Maggots 92 – 81

With The Maggots having a season to forget whilst they rebuild, and the Dreamers season being up and down like a Yo-Yo, nobody knew what to expect from this 1. Both teams showed their best and their worst, with each team controlling the game at certain points. After a solid start, the Dreamers disappeared for 2 quarters, but rallied in the 4th to take an 11 point win.

3 Konrad Falba Skyhook Dreamers – Konrad was 1 of the few players who contributed all night. Konrad helped himself to 16 points, but it was his 18 rebounds that helped the Dreamers win the battle of the boards and secure victory in this 1.

2 Christian Brakenhoff Maggots – Brakenhoff was a thorn in the Dreamers side all night and played a great game for the Maggots. Brakenhofff led the scoring with 26 points on the night, and backed it up with 9 boards and 4 assists.

1 Lech Jędrych Skyhook Dreamers – Jedrych went missing early in the game, but he showed up in the 4th when the game was on the line and helped the Dreamers get across the line. Ledrych finished the game with 23 points, and 9 boards.

Hobos vs Viral Infections 52 – 116

The Hobos were hoping to come out of this 1 with some respect.. Viral Infections wanted to destroy and push forward for a possible 2nd spot in the league. VI got their wish in a 1 sided affair. Roger McRubbishkey once again live up to his name, with another rubbish performance.

3 César Serre Viral Infections – Serre was on a mission tonight, and that mission was to singlehandedly outscore the Hobos. Whilst Serre ultimately fell short on that goal his 40 points, including 8-12 from down town, 6 boards and 5 assists edge him slightly ahead of McRubbishkey for the 3 votes.

2 Alex Brecchia Viral Infections - Brecchia may feel ripped off here to only get the 2 votes. His 29 points and 21 board were capped off on the defensive end with 4 blocks. Whatever Brecchia was infected with tonight, he was way to hot for the Hobos.

1 Sidónio Conceição Viral Infections - Conceicao had a great all around game and showed McRubbishkey who is boss. With 23 points, 10 boards and 6 assists, Sidonio dominated the U21 hopeful.

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 9 Part 3

Warren Bulls vs Shepparton Shooters 78 – 117

The Shooters needed to win this game to hold onto Outright 2nd and stay in touch with the all-conquering Immortals. At the other end of the ladder, the Bulls were searching for just their 2nd win of the season. The Shooters had been to the blacksmiths during the week and came out with red hot irons, and branded the bulls early. The Bulls tried to Buck their way back into it, but the damage had already been done.

3 Junel Viojan Shepparton Shooters – Viojan had his way with the bulls out there, and led the Bulls by the Horn for the full 48 minutes. Not only was Viojan scoring at will for his 32 points, but he even found the time to dish out 6 assists to his team mates. Backing up with 20 boards, 6 of them at the offensive end of the court.

2 Adrián Ahuir Shepparton Shooters – Double A came to the arena tonight fully charged. He energized his team mates with 15 dimes, and was ever-ready to shoot when the situation arose, scoring 28 points on 12-20 shooting. AA was electrifying tonight, and lit the Blue Piggy Bank arena up.

1 Joey Anderson Shepparton Shooters – Anderson was a key part in a perfectly functioning Shepparton Shooters machine. He shot at a decent clip from the field, but his 11 boards and 2 steals separated him from the rest of the vote chasers.

Quinn Kings vs Coin Collectors 117 – 121

The Coin Collectors were desperately searching for their first win of the season, and the Kings were hoping a for a royal performance to notch up their 2nd. The Kings were looking to beat down the Collectors with a high pace game at both ends of the floor, a tactic that ultimately led to their downfall, as they ran out of steam in the 4th. As the Kings ran out of puff, the well paced Collectors were there to capitalize, and take a hard fought victory.

3 Siarhey Usik Coin Collectors – In his 48 minutes, Usik was sensational for the Collectors. Leading all scores with 29 points, Usik also dished out 8 assists and muscled his way to 5 rebounds. This game was a true shoot-out, and Usik won the battle of the SG's.

2 Pablo Ramírez Quinn Kings – Ramirez had a great game for the Kings, and possibly could have helped the Kings to victory if he could have gotten a few more minutes out of his body. His 6 offensive boards were key to creating 2nd scoring opportunities for the Kings.

1 Joaquín Antuñán Coin Collectors – Joaquin controlled the pace of the game for the Collectors, and was able to break down the Kings full court press, dishing out 6 assists to go along with his 24 points.

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 10 Part 1

Hobos vs Quinn Kings – 86 - 98

The Hobos started the season off strong, but came into this 1 on the back of a 4 game losing streak. The Kings have struggled all season, but there have been signs of improvement as the season has progressed. Both teams looked to their big men to get the job done, but in the end the Kings had to much fire power, and muscled their way to a 10 point win, their 2nd of the season

3 Arsenije Stamenković – Quinn Kings– Stamenkovic had 1 of those games, where every time he went near the ball something good happened for the Kings. He shot 9-15 from the field on the way to 23 points, and went even better on the boards with 24, 7 on the offensive end. He was solid on the defensive end, with a couple of steals and limiting his oppositions offensive production

2 Billy Siffredi -Quinn Kings- Billy also played the full 48 minutes and led the team like a true floor general. He backed up his 15 points with 8 assists, 5 boards and shut down his opponent on the defensive end, allowing his opponent to hit 2-7 from the field

1 Artur Barroso – Quinn Kings – Some would argue that a Hobo would deserve the final vote in a close game, but their woeful shooting probably cost them the vote. On the other hand, Barroso was dominant from the pine. In just 17 minutes of action, he helped himself to 22 points on 9-14 shooting, far exceeding what any team expects from a bench player.

TeamAkuma vs Maggots – 79 – 91

Coming into this 1 the Maggots were trying to break a 2 game losing streak, whilst TeamAkuma were looking to build on their victory from the previous week, and push for a .500 + record at the end of the season. The game almost looked over at half time with the Maggots working to a 19 point lead, but by the time Pavon fouled out in the 46th minute, TeamAkuma had staged a miraculous 2nd half turn around to take the 12 point win.

3 Chen Huilong - TeamAkuma – The big turnaround in the 2nd half was orchestrated by Huilong. He was everywhere and inspired his team to lift around him. He scored at a solid clip for his 20 points, including 4-5 from downtown, dished out 5 assists to his team mates, and broke down the Maggots offense with 5 steals.

2 Mark Booth - TeamAkuma – Booth probably had 1 of the toughest jobs on the court, holding the rampaging Brakenhoff in check, and did it with style. Booth helped himself to 16 points and 7 boards, but it was his lock down defense that earned him the 2 votes.

1 Christian Brakenhoff – The Hoff was all over the court, and normally you would think a 39 and 15 night would secure maximum votes. However, the Hoffster probably tried to do to much on his own, and while his stat line is impressive, his 16-42 shooting showed he had one of those nights where maybe passing was the better option.
