I've always felt the same as you in that the SF position is very important. That is why right now I have two 20 year old SFs that will be on the U21 national team next season. It has been a clear struggle to train them out of position for 3 seasons but when they are 22-23 and I can play them at their natural position, they will be beasts that I can keep for 8+ seasons.

No the SF isnt the difference. The real difference is that in a 3-2 Zone the opposing team will typcially shoot the majority of their outside shots against the worst rated OD defender so that could be your PG,SG, or SF. and with a 2-3 they will typcially shoot against your worst rated ID defender so that could be SF, PF, or C. So the real key is who's your weakest defender and how can you hide him the most. if a team has a terrible Offensive player sometimes playing man to man is best and putting your worst Defender on their worst Offensive player. If you have multiple guys with REALLY good defense then Zones any Zone works really well. Because they wont find a low rated person to shoot against so all shots will be defensively affected.

The REAL key is understanding how the GE works. In my time playing this i have NEVER seen a team shoot exceptionally well from 3 PT range nor have i seen a team even using low post or look inside take ONLY inside shots. So unlike most people who say play defense based on opponents weakness i DISAGREE. play defense to YOUR strength. If you change your D every time based on what offense they are running you will hurt your team. AGAIN THIS IS ALL OPINION!!!!
