FINALLY Balls of Steel won our third game. Hopefully my Cup game lineup to get max training and TIE will not cause us to get booted from Cup play. But you just never know!!

I know that ratings are not exact. But which player would you think would have the higher rating?
MIN FG 3FG FT +/- OR TR AST TO STL BLK PF PTS RTNG
C M. Ruff 38 7 - 14 0 - 2 4 - 6 -19 4 15 1 1 3 0 0 18 15.0
C M. Ivanišević 38 9 - 17 0 - 0 0 - 0 +24 3 16 4 2 2 1 0 18 12.5

That is pretty crazy, I've looked at that box score for a bit, and the only very slight difference between the two is your C had 2 turnovers, and the opposing C had 1 turnover, then the opposing C had 1 more offensive rebound.

Then they both played the same minutes, had the same amount of points, and your C had 1 more of total rebounds.

I've never understood how the game rating gets calculated, but it would definitely be interesting to read. It would be odd if singular stat categories were weighted heavier than others, to the level where a difference of 1-3 between two players with similar stat lines in a game, might end with a similar 15.0 vs 12.5 rating.

Balls of Steel, your team is pretty tough, and for us both being the same record at this moment your team is stronger than we are. Nice job building that team.

At least someone agrees with me on this. Of course ratings do not determine wins, really. But you would think if one were a 15 the other would be a 14 or 14.5.

I have trained Guards and bought my bigs. I have tried to go cheap in the past, but that doesn't cut it in DIII. I am making a push for DII, but in the past I have always been disappointed. I am loosing 100k per week. But I have that budgeted. I

If I stay out of the playoffs then FIRESALE. There are no gimmes in this league.

Thanks for you information.
I know that ratings is not the End all Be all. And as you pointed out there are some things such as passing, driving and game flow that do not show up directly in the statistics but may be a factor in the player ratings. There are a couple of sets of stats that if given one was at 15 rating you would certainly think the other player would be a 14 or 14.5 ish.

As to our side of the league- so far it has been major bloodletting, gnashing of teeth, and tearing of shirts for my team for sure. One game I had terrible tactics and players selected. Next game my best big man went out with a two week injury. I truly am afraid to play TIE.

Good Luck...we will be playing soon.

Good to know HCH, I appreciate the clarification about what all defines the player rating in each game. The others factors also being involved like game flow, and points per 100 definitely make sense.

To this day, I still am trying to learn what is the exact best method to preserve game shape outside of not overplaying them 48 minutes per game. I've not figured that one out for years.

agreed. 48 minutes will keep a player in Respectable form. About 65 minutes is sweet spot. Above 80 minutes and it goes south.
THE WORST THING is playing a second game for players and trying to manage the minutes then you go into triple overtime and besides playing 40-44 minutes that game your starters wind up playing 55-60 minutes that game in addition to the previous games that week.
