Are you serious?

It's harder to prevent 17 shots than 8.

I'm sure allowing 2 points but locking down double the number of shot attempts is far more impressive...

EDIT: I'm just stating my opinion. Not protesting the points awarded.

I understand that it is harder to prevent 17 shots than 8, but in terms of value on a court, isn't keeping your opponent to 0-1 better than keeping your opponent to 1-100? In my opinion, although the 1-100 may be harder to do, in terms of value I think 0-1 is better.

No, because the player who took more shots essentially reduced the overall scoring possessions that their team had.

Shooting 1-17 instead of 0-8 is essentially 9 empty trips, so think 9 turnovers.

The defense led to 9 addition empty trips. Sure he scored 1, but he still missed 16 shots. That's around 20% of the team's FG's per game (on average).

Gotta agree with iwen on this one. I'd value a 1-17 defensive effort way more over a 0-8 defensive effort. Both are good but the 1-17 has essentially stopped twice the amount of scoring attempts as the 0-8 defense and especially when you average it out, is much harder to do.

You forgot to mention that Baxter injured my starting SF, Zuras 2 minutes in to the game! Ended up being a game changer that one :/

......i don't even know if i'm meant to be replying to these threads, there are so many spammers around that seem to leave these threads alone so if i'm wrong, just let me know and i'll delete it.

Yes we always try to keep the MVP and ladder threads spam free so that people can actually find the information they are looking for so please do remove the post.

You may not know it but I'll just remind everyone that we have an official appeals process and I would encourage anyone who disagrees with the MVP decisions to put your money where your mouth is and appeal the decision. C-Cat loves toying with you like a cat with a mouse.

Still got a great opportunity for someone to be the co-commisioner of the East.

Isn't defence essentially about stopping the other team from scoring, so in essence, isn't the player that lets less points through the more valued player? Sure the other guy stopped 16 shots but he let 1 shot through, where as the guy that stopped 8 shots was able to stop 100% of the shots and didn't let any points through.

If you want to get really technical, you could look at the players averages. Most players should at least 30% from the field at their low point so keeping an opponent to about 5% shooting is more impressive considering the larger comparison scale.
