1-17 is far more impressiv than 0-8.

How do you figure?
0-8 means that the opponent didn't score any points.
1-17 means that the opponent scored 2 points.
I think preventing any scoring is better than simply preventing most attempts.

Are you serious?

It's harder to prevent 17 shots than 8.

I'm sure allowing 2 points but locking down double the number of shot attempts is far more impressive...

EDIT: I'm just stating my opinion. Not protesting the points awarded.

I understand that it is harder to prevent 17 shots than 8, but in terms of value on a court, isn't keeping your opponent to 0-1 better than keeping your opponent to 1-100? In my opinion, although the 1-100 may be harder to do, in terms of value I think 0-1 is better.

No, because the player who took more shots essentially reduced the overall scoring possessions that their team had.

Shooting 1-17 instead of 0-8 is essentially 9 empty trips, so think 9 turnovers.

The defense led to 9 addition empty trips. Sure he scored 1, but he still missed 16 shots. That's around 20% of the team's FG's per game (on average).
