The amount you can sell a player for fluctuates based on where you are in the season - ex: you'll get more money if you sell right before the playoffs than you will if you sell right after the draft. But in terms of long term strategy, it's hard to think of a change that would make your player's sale value increase over time without training. It's more likely his sale value would decrease because he got older.
