Sorry for my English!

Well if you ask me...
In real life, I guess one coach will preffer to get one player with good ingame experience.
Well, this coach maybe will have to choose between one new Roster with gift to score nonstop, and one experienced"old Roster".

The first one will make much more fauls than the experienced one... , but maybe, he will be able to score if the screen is on.
The second one, will use his own expierience and will be able to make this screen by own, and score without fauls.

conclusion:

one expierenced player with IS 8lvl skill(for example) will be able to score more than one non-experienced player with IS 10lvl skill .

This is my own opinion. And one again sorry for my English

my guess is that it has an effect on how foul prone a player is and his shot selection (in the 4qtr). i didn't do research on it but i have the impression, that experienced players take the last shot more often. I also think that it has an effect on the allaroundperformance of the player but i am not sure how to find out how exactly...

I think in general, more experienced players are more clutch in key situations.

I believe this as well. There have been numerous situations where I was behind in the 4th quarter, and my experienced players made big plays to win the game.

And the next question is, what's the trick to getting experience pops? I have a 21-yr-old who's played 60-70 minutes a week, still sitting on Atrocious. That includes 2 playoff runs and a championship game (which I thought added more experience.) I have had a couple of pops, but I don't see what the formula is or how anyone is getting to level 10+. Do higher divisions train faster?

no trick -- simply a function of playing time (although not all games have an equal impact) -- your doing all you can with this inexperienced player -- his beginning point must have as close to zero as one can have if after a couple of seasons with regular playing time and even playoff experience he is still completely untrustworthy in a clutch situation.

I've had about two seasons for pop, about 60 min per week.

this i can confirm, i had numerous times in my scrimmages, 40 year old scrubs who took last shots.

and for the initial question. What does experience do?

Well, we really don't know
