At 24 he will pop so slowly that his potential will not come into play. You could have a perennial allstar with that skillset at that age and not be able to cap him.

Damn it....Thanks. No wonder nobody else bid on him. Lesson learned. I figure since he was all time great he would pop all over the place.

Potential doesn't influence training speed, age does. Potential is to determine for how long you can train a player before he "caps out" ie doesn't/barely receives any training anymore, because his skills are too high. However, at age 24 the slowdown in training because of age will prevent your player to reach the potential treshold; you can never train him to be good enough to be capped by potential, so the higher potential is useless at that age.

You paid the potential just to have an oddity in your roster. At that age, skillset like that are worth 1k and aren't worth training.

Don't buy player to train with that skillset if they are older than 19 y old and few weeks, whatever the potential and price are.

Agreed. That's a player that is suited for a scrimmage player / end of the bench role at best at any level of the game.
