i am not sure if it is confirmed, but i believe it is like for nationalteams.

You get (different) amount of point for playing games, league games have different value depending on the league level. Cup games maybe have two three stages with different amount of points awarded.

The points from the game are splittet betwen the team, depending on the result and the actual standing. So if you are ranked way lower then your opponent, maybe a 5 points win gives you all the points where your opponent needs todestroy you with 30 Points to get them all.

In the nt, you loose the points again, after two seasons which makes sense with their rhythm - so i wouldn't be surprised it that is different at club level.

Maybe i could rwystyrk's data, for the first NT season with ranking to give you a better insight.

here was the research from rwystyrk about the ranking system of the nationalteams, quite sure that it have similiarities with the club ranking.

It looks like NT Rankings working this way

Each game has the certain amount of points, which are devided to both opponents:

scrimmage - 5 points
qualification 1st round group - 15 points (? not 100% sure, I started my analysis later)
qualification 2nd round group - 30 points
continental semifinal - 50 points
continental final - 100 points
second chance - 35 points
consolation tournament group - 15 points

Soon we will see World Championship points.

Winner
gives something between 75% and 100% points for the game and looser
something between 0% and 25%. The strength of opponent influences how
the points are devided. To gain 100% of points against weaker team
means that you have to win the game by better points differential than
to gain 100% of points against stronger team (strength is set by rank
on NT Rankings).
