The Season 16 United States U21 team opened their season with an impressive 101-77 win over Mexico! Coach Rambo was very impressed with his team. He was impressed with everyone but one player, that is. That player was Hubert Douglas. Douglas is a usual Point Guard, but he played Small Forward in this game. Douglas shot a measly 4-20 from the field, and put up an even worse rating, with a meager 7.5. Asked for the explanation, Rambo said, "I don't know, Douglas sucks. Jelme had him on the team, but when I got there I dropped him. I did that for a reason. I reluctantly took him back, and then this happens. You're welcome moflaffle." Moflaffle, obviously, is the owner of Douglas. Douglas has the second lowest salary on the team, "behind" Dean Beverly. Beverly, however, shot a solid 5-8 from the field, and scored 12 points in 14 minutes for a rating of 13.5, the second highest on the team.
Besides Douglas atrocious-at-best performance, the team played very well. Shooting Guard Ben Jack scored 26 points on 11-17 shooting, and Power Forward Ron Crowder has a double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds. While watching the game on TV while in Poland, NT coach jfarb liked what he saw. "They all played well. Well, besides Douglas obviously, who is the only one on that team that I think has no chance of making the NT in the future."
When the game started, Rambo was really excited. He called for the team to "Push the Ball" on offense, and play Man to Man on defense. Mexico ran the Princeton offense, and 2-3 zone for defense. In the first quarter, the game was close, and Mexico even jumped out to an early 7-2 lead. However, the United States cruised to an easy 101-77 win after that. One thing Rambo did not like, besides Douglas' play, was the fact that the team did not follow his policy. That was, no playing the week after if they did not injure anyone. No one committed any injuries, and they will pay the price. "I have decided to drop all of them and add Perry Gipson Jr. to the team!"
"But, Gipson is only 27, so how old is Gipson Jr.?" Jfarb curiously asked Rambo over the phone.
"17. He will be drafted next season!" Rambo proudly proclaimed.
"So, Perry Sr. had a kid when he was 10 years old?" Jfarb asked, wondering.
"Sure did." Rambo said.
Anyway, the team refused to let me interview them this week, for whatever reason. They will, however, let me interview them next week. That's all, GOOOO USA!
