This has been my favorite write-up all season. It had me laughing out loud several times especially about the "Ego-Room" in the beginning.

NT Post Game Report: Americas Semifinals - Argentina 4/15

Reporting live from the BC Törööö Center, The United States National Team had center stage as the America's Semifinals were set with their matchup against a powerhouse Argentina NT!! As I sat there from my seat at the end of the USA bench, the awe and spectacle of such a great sight had left me speechless.. Half of the arena was drenched with crazy Argentina fans covered in face paints and showing their Argentinian pride with cheers and celebrations... and for some reason a lot of them had Vuvuzelas. On the other half American patriotism was gleaming as far as the eye could see! As Team USA stepped on the hardwood for its warmups fans started shouting USA! USA! in unison.. then very slowly *stomp* *stomp* *clap* *stomp* *stomp* *clap* The Americans in the crowd began to sing "We Will We Will Rock You!" I looked over to the USA managers section behind the American bench to find a few of our managers really into it doing air guitar including Fatcurry, smallfrie, and Bfiddy.

Team USA welcomed back Willis Lundy and call-up Dan Billingsley and alongside Joe "The Show" Bronson Richard "The Ginja Ninja" Ugona, Dexter "Dimes" Dennison, Ricardo " The Rocket" Madrid, and The USA Bigs a Run and Gun offense was decided upon as it was matched up against Man Argentinian defense. Against the USA's man defense Argentina pounded the ball down low with their look inside offense!

The game was about to begin as most of the players went over to the sidelines to talk to their managers who gave them last minute advice and words of encouragement. I noticed all but 1 as a lonely Joe-Bro was left to hear advice from assistant coach Rambo because according to Bronson, "Nobody loves me enough to keep me on their team."

The first quarter started off with 2 quick buckets by Argentina putting them up 4-0. Next time down the floor Joe Bronson passed the ball to starting SG Willis Lundy. Lundy gave his defender a soft air kiss as he hit the jump shot putting the USA on the board. Lundy did not stop there however confidence started to take over his game as Lundy sliced and diced through the Argentinian defense twice to score 4 more and tie the game at 6. From 6:20-4:33 however a new star had began to shine.. this part of the game was known as Dan Billingsley time and you sure didn't want to mess with it! Before the game Dan told me this was his first NT game this season and he wanted to make a statement. As soon as Billinglsey was on the floor he had hit 4 straight shots including the first USA 3 for a total of 9 points in the short 2 minute span! At the end of the first however a close game was the result 26-25 Argentina.

The second quarter was much like the first with both teams never out of the game and always scratching to keep it close although Argentina managed to extend their leads the USA always found a way usually thanks to the hands of starting SF Irwin Velasco! With 12 seconds left in the second quarter, down 51-49 Ricardo Madrid grabbed the rebound and passed it to Velasco who dribbled down to the wing and took a jump shot with 2 seconds left which swished, drove the crowd crazy and tied the game at 51 at the half!

In the locker room at the half Coach Jfarb let Assistant coach Rambo give one of his famous half time speeches and boy was it powerful:
"Great moments... are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it."

Charles Dube who didn't dress for the night's game was sitting in the locker room when he asked if Rambo took that from the movie Miracle and if he made any quotes himself?

An awkward silence.. then Rambo spoke, " Charles.. If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball"
Aaaaannddd... let's just say Charles Dube couldn't dodge a ball let alone a wrench.

The players took Rambo's speech to heart and knew all the marbles were on the line.. it was do or die! The offense for the USA NT was firing on all cylinders in the second half. In fact every player on the US NT roster managed to score a bucket! Great defense by the US would lead to a nice jump shot from one of the many who were hitting them tonight. Both the third and fourth quarters were very alike with the US outscoring Argentina 34-22 in the third and 32-19 in the fourth. Willis Lundy was huge for the team hitting 5 of the 12 3 pointers and the leading scorer! Overall the shots were falling for Team USA tonight with 5 players in double digits and everyone scoring the USA cruised to a 117-92 Victory and are heading back to the Worlds!!!! Next Monday However the USA takes it shot at Gold and Redemption when they play Chile!

The celebrations were crazy all throughout the BC Törööö Center for the great game all had witnessed and the win that USA had obtained. There were so many stars in tonight's game but only 2 may be chosen for interviews! Waiting at the table for me was Willis Lundy and Irwin Velasco!

SpF: Will! Brilliant game out there Lundy! It was nice to see you back!
Lundy: Tank youz SpF! I'm jus glad we'z git dis game! Championship baby here'z we'z comes!
SpF: Well Lundy this was your return game and you made a statement! I mean the leading scorer with 23 points including 5 3pointers?
Lundy: I'z Make dem pay.. dogg if you'z don't play any defensh on meh then ya'll git burned.
SpF: How's it feel to have such a huge game on such an important one like this?
Lundy: Why it'z feels amazing fur realz.. I mean's I iz savin' dis game.. waitin' for meh oppurtunity.. and **** son I took dish game play meh heart outs and look at meh nowz on top of da world!
SpF: Well Congrats Lundy! Good Luck in the finals!

SpF: Velasco you did it again! Another big game and your one again here for an interview!
Velasco: Yupp.. just another one of those nights where heck I even surprise myself.
SpF: *cough* You Surprise everybody *cough*
Velasco: What was that?
SpF: I said... yeah.. it's no surprise to everybody... your awesome.. hehehe.. *awkward silence*
Velasco: Anyway.. I'm so glad we got this win! We have a shot at golds.. it's been almost 6 seasons since our last one.
SpF: Wow that is a long time! Are you up to the challenge Velasco?
Velasco: I certainly am but I can't do it alone, I'm going to need every single one of these guys to play the best basketball of their lives alongside me next Monday.
SpF: It is a daunting task but I have faith in you guys1
Velasco: Thanks.. I mean yeah we all just can't go out there and drop 50 but what I love about this team is that were all gifted athletes any one of us can go out there and step up our games whether it's Lundy Tonight, Jairo in the early part of the season, Joe, Ricardo, Inez... it goes on man.
SpF: I agree, a force to reckoned with is Team USA.. Well congrats on the victory Irwin and hopefully we'll chat again soon!

Making the trip to find NT coach Jfarb wasn't hard all I had to do was turn around. Hugging all his players, high-fiving, and just celebrating the great win I asked Coach Jfarb:
SpF: Well Coach.. great win! what's your thoughts?
Jfarb: "We did it USA!!! Anything is LIIIIKKKEEEELLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! I could say something like 'Suck it Americas' but I'm classier than that. So, eat it Americas. Seriously though, we had some ups and downs, and some great competition and well-managed teams, but its nice to be back in the Worlds again. I'd like to thank everyone for their support this season, couldn't have done it alone. USA is back and we mean business. HEY BRONSON!!!! YOU ARE....AWESOME."

It was a heart-warming scene as Joe Bronson and Coach Jfarb hugged. Jairo ran away as he couldn't stand such a scene for so long he was already bursting in tears. I walked over to him and said, "Jairo you gotta stop crying man you just won a shot for golds1 you're going back to the worlds!" Jairo looked at me, nodded and replied with: " Why you are so correct SpF, It's time for myself to man up to this situation and focus on basketball no more Justin Bieber Concerts it's time to go win a championship!" AMAZED at Jairos perfect English I patted him on the back and told him to celebrate with Jfarb.

Jairo Alejandro Renteria grabbed the Gatorade and snuck up behind Jfarb. Pouring the Gatorade all over the NT coach it was a great scene! However after all this Jairo dropped the container on Jfarb's head and continued to find all the Gatorade he could the entire night.. He's still learning the culture.

Monday Night.. Team USA takes on #1 Chile in the Finals of the America's Tournament! Show your American pride by showing up in the chat or staying in the loop on the offsite forum! Finals! H
