ok now to justify my rankings and make some predictions

i'll go in reverse fish power order

Jindera Strikers 211 F did really well last season and are well coached but simply don't have the talent to beat the "big8big4" so i can't see any way they can make the playoffs they also seem to have not improved their squad much this season but may have money saved for a big splash - we hope so

inshot 342 F is a young team that really struggled last season and this season the league is even tougher - they have a potential date with relegation and if i was them i would be circling their matches with Jindera Strikers, SemiPro and 7 Power as must wins to avoid bottom spot in the big8

aussie Kings 418 F i don't know much about them but if you can only get 14 wins in div4...they too should be looking at who they can beat to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon auto-relegation

7 Power 233 C one of the so called "royalty" of 3.6 they have a solid roster but only managed 6 wins last season - i know they can do better but will they?

SemiPro 269 C also new and a bit unknown should compete well but will need to improve a lot to deal with teams like the tigers and mages

Gold Coast Sharks 341 C new and seem to lack depth after a couple of good players, will need more talent to not be easy to play around their strengths

Possum Chasers 232 C big lols that their best two players are injured for the first couple of weeks of the season but don't sleep on this team, they are ambitious and have friends in high places, they may suck BADLY for now but they are a team on the rise

TeamAkuma 294 C another team with a LOT of very successful friends in high places, their team looks crap on paper but they are very well coached and will also get some big wins this season

DragonZ 164 B are one of the "big8big4" that will make dangerous (that is a joke by the way) for the other teams in the big8 as they can beat anyone on the right day beating both me and the svettes last season

Home Axis 201 B were the "dark horse" team last season and impressed with a solid run to the playoffs but unfortunately then met the allstars - they will only get better and anything less than a top 4 finish will surprise me and they also have Olavi Rõuk who came 5th in the mvp race last season

Ronaldo 256 B a new team that have one incredible player - how the heck they have made this $34k beast in just two seasons amazes me but watch out, Koby Astle will be one of the top players in the league this season Gabriel Gottardi and Taunui Lee will have an even bigger battle for the boards this season - unfortunatly after him they seem to have very little - where is his training partner?

and now for the top 5 in no particular order

Svetties 129 A with by far the biggest payroll in the league they should dominate add to that the league mvp Gabriel Gottardi who has a respectable dmi of 423300 more than double his nearest rivals Taunui Lee and Xie Guanzheng and this should be the team to beat, unfortunately it often was and the redbacks used their homecourt advantage to eek out a close win in the playoffs

Melbourne Redbacks 110 A have no weaknesses an all round team that is well coached and always is hard to beat i lost once and beat them twice another member of the "royalty"

Melbourne Goldfish 80 A brilliant perfect, ok seriously we have improved a lot since last season when Xie "Master Chef" Guanzheng was runner up MVP with some seriously upgraded big men don't know why we deserve the rank 80 in australia but i dont think it will last long after Black Label Society finish with us in the cup

Richmond Tigers 113 A the final member of the 3.6 "royalty" these big cats are deadly and the one think i liked about the allstars was they could stop the tigers making the finals they also have their $ 2 000 000 man Xervasio Pacín who will be sure to make a big impact on the league this season

VictoriaMages 123 A spent a lot of last season doing training of players out of position but now watch out they have probably 2 of the top 5 players in the league in Taunui Lee and Peter Still both of whom are still in training age so expect big things from them

*phew* this was longer than i planned

so finally my predictions
big8
i will be really boring and say it will be the same as last season with the same 4 making the playoffs with a slightly different order
Svetties
Melbourne Goldfish
Melbourne Redbacks
DragonZ

great8
this is a lot more wide open and really anyone could win this but here goes
VictoriaMages
Richmond Tigers
Home Axis
Ronaldo

however i see that last spot as being wide open and Ronaldo being very vulnerable if they dont spend their promotion money on a bit more depth

what do you all think?

feel free to discuss, disagree and give you own opinion

i will send everyone in the league one spam about our forums

enjoy the season

Man thats a great write up!

Thanks for giving us some perspective on the teams to beat.

Time for me to big myself up a bit though...:)
It is unfortunate that my two best are out at the start of this season, however I am ambitious and predict a 4-0 start to the season (Sorry Akuma) - and the 4th position in the great 8 will be mine at the end!

It is on the record now,

Good luck all!

pP

I think I have to agree with your assessments mate. I'm probably one of the only manager who doesn't have supporter mode, which significantly hamper's my ability to develop players, thus making profits from my young players.

However, i firmly believe that i picked up the best player in the draft this year with my first round pick.

Why, because he is the only guy drafted in the first round with MVP potential. A new 6'10" SF with MVP potential and respectable skills in a number of categories is a fantastic boost for me and means i can now trade one of my other solid sf's for a decent amount of money and look to improving some other positions.

I don't think i'll ever get out of this conference though. Not until i spend some money on supporter mode....which is unlikely to happen.

Good luck to everyone this season.

Yes my team is still very green and need a lot more work
my goal for this season is to simply survive the onslaught and try to not be relagated, so go easy on me guys :D

hopefully in another seasons time my rookies can develop into a more competitive team, but for now, we fight to survive!

thanks for putting a bounty on my head fish... btw 6'10? dont train his as a SF, just train his as a PF with good secondaries since 6'10 is a good height for big man ;)

Awesome analysis Mr Fish. I knew there was a reason to wait for you to open the thread.

Wow, these recent and big (for us folk at least) purchases should mix things up a bit.

My predictions are:

Big8:
svetties
goldfish
redbacks
dragonz

Great8:
mages
tigers
and the next two spots are between hom, possums and akuma (giving myself the slight advantage).

Just based on salary, the svetties really should take it out. Of course, that didn't happen last season, though, so it may not happen this season either. If they don't take it out, I think the Mages will be leaving us.

Or... Will there be a dark horse, who flies out above the rest at the end?

ahhhaahaa ur assessment on ronaldo's 34k beast... ur PF could be as good as that if not more so. btw tanui no longer trains due to me trainning small men... and thats all im revealing :p so dont be surprised if he is not in the top 5 big men this season. I WANT SUPPORTER... what use is supporter anyway???

Supporter lets you play in private leagues one of the most fun things on BB if you are in a good one like abigfishy and me. To check how active our PL is just have a glance at this thread with 373 posts in the last month!

It also allows you to give your team a banner, flag and quotes for your players. I like all these a lot.

You can bookmark players, teams and games - this is all useful and I like it too. Especially great for tracking guys on the tl.

You get a buddy list which is at the top of your page and shows if they are online or not and gives you an easy shortcut to them.

You get a scoreboard at the top of your page that shows every game in your league and has the scores updated live, it also shows the scores in your buddies games too. This is cool.

You also get to collect flags from other countries, I do it but not so exciting.

For about $1 a week I think this is amazing value and for anyone who has more than a passing interest in the game it is well worth it.
