GUARDS STEP UP GRANDE FOR CANADA IN ECUADOR
(44691)

Canada 117 Ecuador 84

We must have Ecuadorian spies in our midst, as they were able to somehow guess both GDP correctly. No matter, our guards were up for the challenge anyway. The 5 for 24 from the 3 point line might not look flattering, but make no mistake Pavliuk(25 pts) and Koszakov(19 and 5 assists) were ready to leave their mark.

The beginning looked a bit rough with Ecuador ahead, but after early first quarter jitters, the men were able to rally and end up winning all 4 quarters. It was a total team effort with the bench chipping in as well.

HTC calls his guy Basil Ritchie the "silent killer" and he definitely lived up to that name, while coming off the bench to surprise the Ecuadorians with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Manzel's mate Paul Falconer also showed exceptional marksmanship off the bench shooting 5-9 with 12 points.

Even though the other team was able to have some success with their "look inside" offense, starters Stephen Hall(+17, 9 rebs, 4 assists) and Benito Martin Avila (+19, 12pts and 9 rebounds) had very solid first games. Avila was especially good in spurts, showing off his skills because his current owner has put him up for sale (35218290).

There is still much more basketball to be played and we have much work to do still. Let's hope the old guys who were left off the opening night roster, are able to correct their conditioning for coming weeks. Our rebounding(59-34) was very good, as were our assists(27) and steals(9). WE need to clean up the turnovers a bit(13), but 8 of those came from our big men.

TOP STARS:
1)I. Pavliuk - Hit all the shots when they were needed. Enough said! (3 points)

2)Basil Ritchie - He answered the call off the bench, especially in the second half. (2 points)

3)Y. Koszakov - The other half of the dynamic guard duo still chipped in 19 key point. (1 point)

Next up: Next Monday at 5pm against Bolivia. They are a bad team but their coach has good credentials. Let's get some good game shape this week and roll with it!

Sorry guys busy real life stuff.. my husband showed my son some jurassic park previews and now we have a "Mommy, dinosaurs under the bed" problem!! Anyways, here is a little summary of our last game.. NOTE: We are on a bye week this week.. so although I appreciate all the updates about game shape and skills, I won't be adding anyone new until after next Friday's updates, as we don't have another game until after then.

Canada 116 Bolivia 68 (44695)

We came out firing! For the second week in a row, it was the PavKov show. PAVliuk scored 20 points and KoszaKOV led the way with 21 points and 6 assists. Although the competition has been inferior, these two have looked great in the first couple weeks.

We showed good overall defense and had two quarters (1st and 3rd ) where we scored 37 points in each. Our rebounding was nice again with the 53-32 advantage. Stephen Hall might not have scored much but his 11 rebounds helped set the tone. Alex Cockayne chipped in the 11 of his own off the bench, to show that he wants to start!!

We controlled the flow very well. 30 assists and 5 turnovers.

Unfortunately we only got the to the line 10 total times. The motion offense probably had something to do with that, but we will try to get more foul shots moving forward.

Top Stars:
1)Koszakov - Dimes and points!! Clutch!! (3 points)

2)Pavliuk - Splash brother #2 with 20 points. (2 points)

3)Jason Colesby - Chipped in with 17 points (1 point)

BYE WEEK... Keep training those players!! Especially big men... call to arms for all young big men!!

Canada 104 Iran 85 (45424)

A nice scrimmage win!

No need to over-analyze, it's purely a scrimmage but also a very good warmup for our upcoming games. Old man Madiar made a nice debut to his season with 27 points. He is old, but his talents cannot be ignored. Once his manager got him in shape, he was on my radar. He had a dynamite third quarter. One second I left to put my son to sleep it was a close game.. I come back at the end of the quarter and bam, I couldn't believe my eyes, we were killing it!!

Defense was great again. Rebounding was fine.. Thanks for the improved game shape folks! Is it possible to push it a bit more. In two weeks we will take on Argentina, who I think is top two . It would be nice to aim for 10/12 of our players to have 9 game shape by then. I realize that is a lofty goal, but what's wrong with ambitious goals.

Let's keep passing our tests and see what we can do. We are probably not viewed to finish top 4, little-own top 5 or 6 but let's prove some people wrong!! It's been great so far. People will notice I have been starting to send out even more emails to younger players... let's get on the same page. The old boys are getting darn old, let's get those ponies all grown up!!!

Top Stars:
1)Madiar - 27 points and a one man show in the third quarter. (3 points)

2)Pavliuk - 14 points, 6 asisssts and plus 19 (2 points)

3)Koszakov - 15 points (1 point)
Have a good evening!

Hey guys! Hope everything is well with all of you. Couple notes:

1)Next game is Monday against Costa Rica

2)If you are wondering why I''ve added Don Aaron, it is because his owner goes bot in two days or so, and although he's 33, he's still very good.. so when I save him, look for him on the transfer list please. He could be a key piece at season's end when his game shape hopefully goes back up.

Thanks

Would Don Aaron not have been saved anyways due to his salary?
