Week 5 (Leeroy bludging at work style) Part 2

shepparton shooters vs. Skyhook Dreamers 98 - 89 (36141567)

A classic Inside vs outside matchup on this night provided us with some thrilling play and a crap ton of fouls! Unfortunately for the Dreamers they were the only ones commiting the fouls, sending the shooters to the line for a total of 41 free throws. Shepparton's strong inside presence dominated the boards grabbing a 19 rebound advantage and essentially stemming any hope of a rally in the 2nd half. Very well played by both teams

3 Junel Viojan shepparton shooters - "The Shooters key to victory" did exactly that on this night, grabbing 24 boards and 25 points with 10-22 shooting. While not the most efficient player in terms of shooting percentage, forcing his man to foul out and playing tough defence got him over the line for the 3 votes.

2 David Chan Skyhook Dreamers - Despite shooting just above 41% this game, Mr. Chan was a key reason why the Dreamers stayed in the game for so long, carrying his team on offence racking up 35 points 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 39 minutes. Add a 13.0 rating into it and you have your 2 vote recipient.

1 Xiong Weipeng shepparton shooters - This young gun was close to getting the 3 votes this week but Viojans domination of the boards put his humble team mate into the 1 vote spot. 33 points 16 rebounds and 3 steals caps off a great performance from the shooters.

Brisbane Thunder vs. Maggots 71 - 54 (36141566)

This was the lowest scoring game of the night which could be attributed to the amount of shots missed or just the lack of any efficient scoring means by both sides. The Maggots found themselves up by 5 at the end of the first half only to be fought back in the 3rd with the Thunder clawing their way to a 2 point lead going into the 4th quarter. What looked to be a tight quarter turned into a rout with the Brisbane Thunder firing up to score 24 points to a meagre 9 by the Maggots. Well played by both teams.

3 Cristiano Semoni Brisbane Thunder - The Fro was too much for the maggots on this night shooting by far the best of both teams at 11-20 and getting to the line for 6-6 free throws combining for 29 points. Throw in 16 rebounds and 3 blocks and you have your 3 votes.

2 Christian Brakenhoff Maggots - I was very reluctant giving Christian the 2 votes as he shot poorly all night against his younger counterpart. On the other side of the coin he was clearly the best Maggot on the court grabbing 15 points 7 rebounds 5 assists and 3 steals to give his team half a chance.

1 Stuey Faka’osifolau Brisbane Thunder - The b0ssman himself kept his opponent to 6-23 shooting for the night and racked up 20 points and 3 assists. When asked about his Defence after the game he replied with "What can I say? I guard like a b0ss" There you have it from your 1 vote recipient.

Coin Collectors vs. Persepolis Immortals 65 - 96 (36141569)

Not much to say about this game, unfortunately for Coin Collectors they chose the wrong defensive tactics resulting in an Inside domination from the Immortals. In any game where you're out rebounded by 41 you know it's going to be a tough one.

3 Alibek Imandosov Persepolis Immortals - When you can come out and be your teams top scorer in 22 minutes then you know you're doing something right. Alibek shot 6-8 from the field to give his team 17 points as well as grab 11 boards. One of the quickest double-double's I've seen in a while and it gets him the 3 votes

2 Pashang Salimi Persepolis Immortals - Salami was a fiend on this night with his 15.0 rating. He nabbed 16 points 11 rebounds and shot 50% from the field. He also attempted 10 free throws to cap off his performance.

1 Philip Buerge Persepolis Immortals - Another player who scored well in a short amount of time. 15 points in 28 minutes as well as playing some gr

Week 6 (Leeroy Bludging at work style)

Hobos vs. Geelong Vipers 66 - 79 (36141575)

This was an all Guppy affair last night with Division II tanker and resident tr0ll FannyPackMan and his hobos going up against the much improved and equally as tr0lling Matt1986 and his Geelong Vipers. The game got off to a good start for the Vipers going up by 7 at the half with Rosales leading the way being the dynamic scorer that he is. It wasn't until the 3rd quarter that the hobos looked like rallying but that was quickly quelled in the 4th with some outstanding defense.

3 Sam Rosales Geelong Vipers - The star player for the Vipers got it done on the night only playing 37 minutes and shot 7-13 to give him a tidy 16 points 14 rebounds (7OR) and a 12.5 Rating

2 Kody Moana Hobos - Despite being a scrub Moana was the best player for the hobos. He shot 9-15 from the field attributing to his 21 points, he also pulled down 12 rebounds and stole the ball 3 times.

1 Vojtěch Sirotek Geelong Vipers - The best defensive player for the Vipers keeping his opposing position to 0-8 the whole night and grabbed 8 rebounds which is impressive for an SG. Add 10 points and 3 assists into the mix and you have the last vote.

Brisbane Thunder vs. Quinn Kings 110 - 96 (36141571)

It was no holds barred last night as the two Keviners battled it out. Quinn Kings had a great first half getting the jump on the Thunder and going up by 5 before the half time whistle. The Second half was the complete opposite and saw the Thunder come out firing on all cylinders, It was rumoured that the b0ssman Faka hired a stripper for the half time break to help the boys calm down. 66-47 in the Second half in favour of the Thunder makes the $2 bill worth it

3 Cristiano Semoni Brisbane Thunder - The Fro' had his way with the Kings, Bullying his way to 40 points and 10 rebounds on the night giving him a 13.5 rating. He also nailed a 3 like a b0ss ;)

2 Arsenije Stamenković Quinn Kings - The most efficient scorer for the Kings shooting 14-17 amounting to 30 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. 5 personal fouls were his only let down in an otherwise great performance.

1 He Anfu Brisbane Thunder - Old Anfu was all class in this game hitting 12-19 from the field racking up 28 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. He narrowly missed out on the 2 votes due to some lack of defense.

Week 6 Part 2 (Leeroy bludging at work style)

Match of the Round
shepparton shooters vs. TeamAkuma 120 - 117 (36141572)

Clearly the match of the round. These two Div III titans battled it out all night back and forth, Inside vs Outside, Big men vs Small men. Shepparton Shooters just dominated akuma on the boards with Viojan leading the way on 26 rebounds. The shooters were up by 2 points at the end of the first half and it was clear that it would be a dogfight. Akuma Came out firing in the 3rd quarter with Abimbola at the forefront of the offence doing all he could to keep his team in it the game, At the end of the 3rd TeamAkuma were up by 6 and looked to be slipping away with the win until a turnaround in the 4th to take it into overtime!
5 0:00 120 — 117 M. Booth (H) attempts a three-point shot from the wing, guarded closely by B. Journet (A). Scored.
5 0:00 120 — 117 A buzzerbeater for M. Booth (H)!

Despite Booths' heroics it was too little too late for TeamAkuma with the clock against their cause. Brilliant match, well done to both teams.

3 Junel Viojan shepparton shooters - The big V was outstanding in this game, Almost nabbing himself a triple-double with 29 points 26 rebounds and 8 assists. Despite having trouble converting a few of his shots, Viojan had absolutely no turnovers and secures the 3 votes for himself.

2 Clinton Abimbola TeamAkuma - Akuma's home grown prodigy Abimbola carried his team on offence and despite shooting just under 40% managed to score a whopping 45 points. He also grabbed 8 rebounds and 4 assists to complete his stellar performance.

1 Adrián Ahuir shepparton shooters - Drinking problems aside AA played brilliantly racking up 38 points from 15-29 shooting, he also dished out 13 assists and collected 5 rebounds! Not bad for a PG. He narrowly missed out on the 3 votes due to the big VJ's overall contribution and no turnovers.

Coin Collectors vs. Skyhook Dreamers 102 - 114 (36141574)

This game saw Kevin's newest addition Coin Collectors go up against Resident III.12 participant Skyhook Dreamers. On paper this should have been a walkover in the Dreamers favour but some good tactics decisions coaching decisions made it a good match to watch. The Dreamers led most of the game and it wasn't until the last quarter that the Coin Collectors looked dangerous, by that point it was a little too late to mount a comeback and the Dreamers win by 12.

3 Lech Jędrych Skyhook Dreamers - Lech shot a stellar 11-18 on the night contributing to his 27 points and out-rebounding his opposition by 6 for a total of 18 rebounds. Add in a block and you have your 3 votes recipient.

2 Joaquín Antuñán Coin Collectors - CC's best for the night and only real form of offense. He shot a tidy 15-33 amounting to 34 points and managed to keep his opposition to 2-9 for the night. Well played from the Mexican.

1 David Chan Skyhook Dreamers - Mr. Chan was the Dreamers leading scorer with 31 points but it was not enough for the 3 votes as the pure team contribution was a lot higher for the above mentioned players. 3 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals to add to the stat line and that caps off the last vote.

Week 6 Part 3 (Leeroy Bored as hell at work style)

Viral Infections vs. Maggots 117 - 69 (36141573)

This match saw Nakers retirement village up against the Maggots and their rebuilding roster. The game kicked off in a pretty even fashion with both teams trading baskets and ending at 23-29 at the end of the quarter in favour of Naker. From then on it was just domination as the oldies schooled the up and comers and teaching them a valuable lesson in the process.

3 Yuri Abruzzese Viral Infections - Yuri was key to Naker's victory on this night shooting at just under 50% and being active on the board for a PG. He nabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 5 assists before fouling out after only playing 37 minutes. this earns him the 3 votes.

2 Nikos Fouskotidis Viral Infections - Nikos was the most efficient player on the court for his team as he shot over 60% and achieved a 20-20. That's 25 points and 20 rebounds to go along with his 5 blocks contributing to his teams success.

1 César Serre Viral Infections - Decision overturned by C-Cat.

Warren Bulls vs. Persepolis Immortals 77 - 120 (36141576)

Last match of the week saw the top of the table Persepolis Immortals take on the Warren Bulls. On paper the Div II titans are the better team and it showed on the night with the Immortals coming out of the gates firing. It was 3 quarters of domination until the Bulls looked to have some fight in them in the last staying even at 32 a piece. Not much more to say apart from the Immortals dominating on the Boards with a whopping 57-28 difference

3 Pashang Salimi Persepolis Immortals - The Salami was the big contributor for the Immortals and the only player to play 48 minutes on the team. He scored 23 points on 9-12 shooting, grabbed 19 boards and dished out 6 assists and 4 blocks with a 14.0 rating which earns him the 3 votes.

2 Patap Papkevich Persepolis Immortals - Patap only played 28 minutes this game but managed to contribute a whole lot to his teams victory. 20 points from 7-10 shooting and 7 assists with a 13.5 rating

1 Notis Levitsianos Persepolis Immortals - Last but not least, Notis played only 29 minutes but scored 17 points 7 assists and 6 rebounds to cap off a dominating performance by the Immortals

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 7

Persepolis Immortals vs. Geelong Vipers 79 - 63

It was to be the game of the season so far with the two best teams in the league clashing with top spot up for grabs and an almost guaranteed trip to the finals for the winner. It was also a clash which featured two of the very best players in the North, two players who wouldn't be out of place in the East or even the West: $77,000 "Slammin" Sam Rosales of the Vipers and $70,000 Pashang "Mr Wondrous" "The Big Salami" Salimi. The Vipers played safe with their tactics while the Immortals took a big risk with a 3-2 zone against maybe the best big man in the league. But while Slammin Sam got his points the inept 1/20 from 3 point land from his team mates combined with a solid 51-41 beating on the rebounds determined the match.

3 Pashang "The Big Salami" Salimi Persepolis Immortals 16 PTS 15 REB 13.5 rating. He wasn't as efficient as he usually is coming up against Rosales made the baskets much harder to get but he and Mohammad dominated their opponents Sam and Francois 27-10 in rebounds which determined the match.

2 "Slammin" Sam Rosales Geelong Vipers 13 PTS 12.5 rating. Did a brilliant defensive job on the prolific "Big Salami" even fouling him out and we super efficient himself hitting 6-9, however his measely 5 rebounds nearly dropped him to the 1 point level.

1 Mohammad Gholam Sharif Persepolis Immortals 22 PTS 12 REB 9/15 FGS. When interviewed after the game about his high score he replied, لطفا بازیکن خود را به مربیان تیم ملی جوانان معرفی کرده و مهارت های او را نیز همراه با معرفی برای مربیان بفرستید"

Coin Collectors vs. TeamAkuma 72 - 94

The struggling Coin Collectors should have had a good chance against TeamAkuma who recently crunched their cup game but the giant killing Akuma who was good enough to defeat The Victorian Allstars (ranked #28 in all of Australia) in the cup showed that they are not just waiting around while Naker and PossumPete complete their epic battle in III.6, they are building a solid team which dominated the rebounds 64-40, got 32 free throws to 14 and had 22 assists to 12. The fact that this wasn't a blowout is mainly due to the great efforts of the Collector's PG Joaquín Antuñán who may be a player to watch in the future.

3 Juan Andrés Álvaro TeamAkuma 18 PTS 19 REB. Wasn't the highest scorer but was the top rebounder and hit 8/15 FGs when most players in this game were hitting about 1/3.

2 Joaquín Antuñán Coin Collectors 18 PTS 8 REB 5 AST. High scoring, top in assists and 1 off top rebounder for his team, he also contributed with a negative stat, his team gave away 32 free throws and he didn't comitt a single foul in 48 minutes.

1 Satria Nahumaruri TeamAkuma 22 PTS 17 REB. Three Akuma players all had a strong argument for this last point. S. Nahumaruri got it with the best points and rebounds but M. Booth had a great all around contribution and efficient shooting and C. Abimbola had the best match rating.

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 7 Part Two

Viral Infections vs. Brisbane Thunder 94 - 75

Both from the "league of death III.6" these rivals already probably already see a lot of each other as revealed by Leeroys most recent press release:

Season 17
Posted on 7/31/2011

Lets do it!

ps. Naker Sucks :)

It is hilarious that both looked inside but defended outside, however Leeroy wont be laughing about the performance of his guards getting horrible ratings of 51, 52 and 51 from his PG, SG and SF positions totally shutting him out of this match.

3 Alex Brecchia Viral Infections 28 PTS 19 REB 5 STL. Has anyone else noticed Naker is going on a youth movement? This is the second youngest player I have seen on his non-tanking team for seasons. At 27 his youth and enthusiasm gave him a level of energy rarely seen on a Naker player and he well deserved the 3.

2 Yuri Abruzzese Viral Infections 24 PTS 6 AST 13.5 rating. Having just been fitted with a new adult daiper Yuri went out and wiped up the opposition helping to create the proficient OD rating for the team with the best individual rating of the match.

1 Cristiano Semoni Brisbane Thunder 25 PTS 13 REB 13.0 rating. While Stuey and friends were stinking it up from the perimeter Cris at least knew where the basket was and also had the second best match rating.

Warren Bulls vs. Skyhook Dreamers 110 - 141

It seems to be a different team each week for the Dreamers, perhaps they have caught a touch of the Naker Virus! But the one thing that is consistent is star player David Chan, who is taking a leaf out of another high profile Fishbowl personality, abigfishy, and starting to train his star properly at a late age. Late is much better than never as Chan showed by dominating this match.

3 David Chan Skyhook Dreamers 39 PTS 13.5 rating. No-one else was in the same universe!

2 Jean-François Courregès Skyhook Dreamers 16 PTS. It is not often an 18 year old will get MVP points but in a brief 19 minute cameo the little Frenchman JFC showed them all a taste of the Jean Fried Chicken of the future.

1 Paolo Aloisi Warren Bulls 25 PTS 5 REB 7 AST. Probably going to be an unpopular call seeing as so many of the Dreamers had great games against insipid opponents but Aloisi had a fantastic all around contribution despite the horrible match rating, a pity he never learnt to play defence.

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 7 Part Three

Hobos vs. Maggots 55 - 77

It was like a Matilda vs a Tiger I in this tank battle with the Maggots severely outgunning the Hobos. That the Hobos flogged an out of shape and outmatched Roger McComiskey for 48 minutes leaving him with just a 7.5 rating is possibly deserving of a troll award! Considering they were totally smashed on the rebounds, hit only 25% of their shots for the match and didn't have any good players this wasn't a bad result for the Hobos, maybe helped by the Maggots PG and SG going a combined 2/20 - I thought they were training guards?

3 José Maura Maggots 18 PTS 18 REB 5 BLK. A very cost effective MVP, not that many $15,000 players getting the 3 votes but he was an efficient scorer and ferocious shot blocker. "Get that weak $#!+ out of here Roger, you're my bitch now!"

2 Christian Brakenhoff Maggots 20 PTS 10 REB 7 AST. The man with the slight flatulence problem helped to make it the Hobos that stunk up the arena and put a Dirty Sanchez on his man Roger.

1 Rubén Pavón Maggots 22 PTS 13 REB. Top scored. Everyone else was horrible.

Quinn Kings vs. shepparton shooters 80 - 91

The shooters have the finals in their sights and they aren't going to let a mere mortal like $80,000 ex-Aussie Rep Billy stop them. V-Thrush and friends dominated the boards 63-38 and achieved an incredible feat.

3 Junel Viojan shepparton shooters 33 PTS 31 REB 14.5 rating. Check those stats again, that is right, a 30-30 game. I can't remember the last time I saw that. Can I please give him all 6 points Leeroy?

2 Billy Siffredi Quinn Kings 15 PTS 11 AST 13.0 rating. Hard to get 11 assists and Billy's efforts kept this game close while his big men were getting slaughtered.

1 Xiong Weipeng shepparton shooters 20 PTS 11 REB. The X-Factor was the other factor in the shooters win, while he is still young and training this team is beatable, I can't imagine how dominant he and V-Thrush will be in a couple of seasons.

Week 7 MVP votes

With only 4 weeks left before the finals here is the complete MVP list for the North.
The Salami and VJ are on top by a considerable margin and look to take out the top 2 this season. After that it becomes a bit of a bottleneck with Rosales and Yuri fighting for 3rd place.

Stay tuned next week for more action in the only place worth pointing to on a compass ;D

Fishbowl North Season 5 MVPs Week 8

Looks like this isn't happening so I am happy to step in and do a quick one, I'm getting to know the North a bit doing these.

Viral Infections vs. Quinn Kings 158 - 111

When it is push the ball against run and gun/full court press you will be expecting a big socre but the matchup ratings were very one sided and maybe keeping within 50 points wasnt a bad effort for the one man team Kings.

3 Alex Brecchia Viral Infections 42 PTS 20 REB 17/23 FGS 13.0 rating. Stuffed the stat sheet like crazy and on a Naker team with five real stars that is impressive. Not much opposition from the King's big men.

2 Sidónio Conceição Viral Infections 31 PTS 14 REB 9 AST. There were four guys fighting for this second vote but being one assist off a triple double got him over the line.

1 Billy Siffredi Quinn Kings 36 PTS 7 REB 6 AST 6 STE 12.5 rating. One interesting but not so important stat, in the 45 minutes Billy was on the team was down 37, losing by about a point a minute, in the 3 minutes he was off they lost by 10, more than 3 points a minute. Feeing very hard done by is King's SF Danielius Speicys who top scored with 44 points but couldn't crack a MVP point.

Warren Bulls vs. TeamAkuma 67 - 110

The Bulls took the brave move of running a Princeton offence which can work but would require a much better offensive flow than inept. Akuma has a solid team trapped in the notorious III.6 division but seem to have a love affair with big Canadians. Former Akuma big man 24 year old Bryan Bessette ($ 65 075) was sold off for $900,000 to make room for their new $1,000,000 purchase 26 year old Darrell Pressley ($ 56 372). Both of these Canadian man mountains have dominated their lesser foes.

3 Darrell Pressley TeamAkuma 19 PTS 12 REB 14.0 rating. The Mountain showed why Akuma pays him the big dollars helping to keep the starting Bulls big men to a combined 10 points.

2 Avery Maclean TeamAkuma 23 PTS. This former draft pick of fellow Fishbowl North team the Geelong Vipers had this to say, "Look me in the eyes - it's okay if your scared, so am I. But we're scared for different reasons. I'm scared of what I won't become and you're scared of what I could become."

1 Chen Huilong TeamAkuma 18 PTS 9 AST. He made the scores for the others possible.

Hobos vs. Brisbane Thunder 55 - 81

Another week and another giant turd laid by Roger McComiskey who surely deserves the troll of the week after his previous unsuccesful appeal was followed up with 2/16 and a 6.5 rating the week after. Leeroy delivered a massive spanking to the Hobos mainly due to the incredible efforts from Fro'lad.

3 Cristiano Semoni Brisbane Thunder 29 PTS 25 REB 14.0 rating. While Leeroy is mainly training and saving he does have at least one serious player, Fro'lad.

2 He Anfu Brisbane Thunder 15 PTS 12 REB. Everyone else was a mile behind but in 22 minutes He-Man showed why he is a Masters of the Universe.

1 Jeremiah Honkoop Hobos 12 PTS. Hard to find a good Hobo but at least the Hoon scored in double figures and shot above 25%.
