Did we just get a new team here in DII?
Isn't that somewhat ruthless and cruel?

Regarding the draft, I'm trying a new strategy to find good players (using the skill search options) and thus far what I have found is amazingly dismal.

No more ruthless and cruel than having to look at Morgan Menard's preternaturally ugly mug every time I view my roster. But, yeah, I've asked about it.

I had to look and see, and dang, he is ugly. On my roster, Laurent Piquet has pretty impressive Peter Griffin chin, which is somewhat obscene. Spencer looks like he's stressing about something, and Dan Jeffrey is clearly on some sort of hallucinogen.

That's crazy. Teams used to start in D5 at BB's peak.
Making new teams get blown out by 100 points/game probably isn't the best way to keep new users. (shrug)

Oh & unless they fired their best players already, wow what a horrible roster to start with. Only 2 guys under 25, both with star potential. One of them a $1k scrub. The only positive thing is getting D2 TV money without a salary floor.

OMG! Honeydew melons on a stick!

They're actually really good. (and insanely popular) Go to your nearest Korean grocery store, give one a try, then report back.

Yeah, so wait a second. When they demote, will they demote all the way to DV? Or do they have cascade down one league at a time? I remember when I started I was placed in DIV, and it was a big deal in that everyone said I should have been placed in DV. Even in DIV, I stood no chance, but got overconfident when I beat a bot team in one of my first games (but didn't realize what a 'bot team' was at that time), and then got utterly pummeled intro oblivion by the active teams. Relegation never felt so good.

Apparently, new signups now are given the option to choose whether they go into a high, medium or low league (if available). I was told that I is never available, and that new teams are "discouraged" from choosing the "high" option because if they don't know why it's a bad idea they don't need to be doing it, but of course the consequence of giving people choice is that they make choices.

Huh, I didn't realize that was a thing now. High seems like a good option for veteran users to start a new team if they just want to train/build arena and tank for two seasons. Get some easy cash.

And it looks like we have a new team in the league. I haven't had to type those words midseason since I think back in IV.

Damn! I thought Silverbacks logged in recently and shuffled his roster around. Guess that was longer ago than I realized.

That sounds awful suspiciously like there are exactly two good players and you're trying to ensure that the second one makes it to the 17th pick. I suppose the only rational thing would be for me to spend a ton of money to scout everyone to prevent that. []

Ha, feel free. I've spent 60ish draft points so far. It's barren. Some of these prospects might even come in under $1,000 in salary. It's just such an unlucky combination of skills. Looks like a good guard candidate, but then you see they have Atrocious OD or Atrocious Passing. A lot of these players have Mediocre to Average for everything important...and then one skill at Atrocious-Pitiful which just kills the build.

If I'm bored enough I might average out every prospects passing, just to see how bad this draft is. Semi-random guess here, but I'd say the average is 'Awful Passing'.

Yeah, funny how something that was proposed primarily as a way for new teams in the micro-nations to be able to opt into lower divisions when they begin so not to be destroyed by the existing teams can end up being used completely the other way in places for which it really wasn't intended.

Even as an experience manager returning after taking a break, there really is no way to be competitive in USA DII given the starting size of an arena and the typical default starting roster. Then the second season the person will be facing a demotion penalty in DIII, still have an undersized arena and inadequate roster. Most likely that will mean another relegation and ending up in DIV with another penalty. But at least they have something like 14-16 weeks where they don't have to worry about the salary floor and can make money off of the TV deal.

EDIT: And now we get a second new team. I too had thought Silverbacks were watching the calendar to avoid losing the team, as the last time he'd logged in just a week before he would have gone bot.

Yeah, I was surprised Silverbacks is gone this time. I looked a few weeks back and it sure seemed like another round of "wait 5-6 weeks, login to save the team" was on its way.

I really am curious how the whole "start in II" thing is going to work out. I can't imagine anyone going through two seasons of losing like that and sticking around, but of course I'm getting close to needing to hit the eject button on my current roster anyhow, so I suppose I'll get to find out what that's like soon enough.

Whats up guys. I used to play on here a couple years ago, and was in div II.1. My team was the Mapleton Mashers (creative as shit right?). For me high start was awesome because of the money. The problem with that is this roster is as ugly as Sam Cassell's butthole and it's going to take a miracle to turn it around. Will be fun being up here with you guys for a bit though. You'll see me again.

Clogs in the Final Four! Go Team!

Many props to the Lethargy for their extended cup run as well. I wish they would have gone CT to go for the upset win, but I understand.
