What about just dressing 5 players? How do the minutes work in that scenario in a walkover?

Depends where you dress them.
36 minutes for a starter. 10 minutes for a backup. 2 minutes for a reserve.
43 minutes if the starter backup and reserve of a position are the same.

Check out the team linked to above with the 25 something walkovers for examples of how minutes are distributed in walkovers.

So if you know someone is going to tank with a walkover, and you only set 5 players to your match day squad, they still won't get 48 minutes?

By the way, I want to win my cup game against you :P You can test the tank theory if you like. =D

Even if you set just 5 players they still won't get 48 minutes in 1 position.

haha so you are going to play your starters and crunch time? :P I shall not be testing the tanking theory :P
However I won't be playing all my starters either :P First goal is to not relegate from div 2 :P However I might change my mind at the last second so who knows :D

I'm looking at playing 3 starters, a backup and one trainee. Depends on minutes I guess, if I'm creaming my next opponent it gives me better minutes to work with in the cup.

I'm almost certain of a playoff spot, so league is still priority. Cup just give me a better national rank..

Well... You better start working on staying in II.. Not exactly a good start!

haha well I figure I only need to come 7th :P So I've thrown the first few games and just going to concentrate on beating the weak teams. I still make 250k a week minimum so not really concerned yet :) And my last league game shows that if I pick my battles right, once I'm out of the cup I can certainly win a few games :)

yeah I haven't decided what I'm going to do in the cup yet. Either tie with scrubs or crunch time with all starters :P Or some variation of the 2 hahaha.
I wish I drew a bot!

What I dont understand is, why is it so vital that 1 player get 48 minutes in his training position in the one game? Is there not another 2 games that week?

well if you do 1 position and 3 trainees in 3 matches a week every trainee has to get 48 mins in a game to get full training. Saturday game number1 trainee gets 48. Number 2 and 3 have zero. Tuesday walkover, number 2 trainee only gets 43 mins, now u have to get number 2 trainee 5 mins and number 3 trainee 48 mins in a 48 min game. Number 2 doesn't recieve full training, only possible is their is an unlikely OT and you put trainee 2 as resevre. Still then its not a guarntee

Still, if you are single position training 3 players at one time, wouldn't be better to sacrifice one week of training to your third best trainee rather than change the training plan just to get a pop?
Also, how does one 48 minute game every week go on gameshape? (Note: Second question is not theoretical. I only want an answer if you have actually done it with your own trainees.)

Easy.

Training PG One Position.

3 Trainees play PG once a week.

When they're not playing, you can use them as backup for say, SG/SF. Usually rounds to 70 minutes.
