Guanzheng leads Smeltz by a vote, with Duffill a few votes back. The chasing pack has already fallen away from the leaders. fishy's star player, Guanzheng, is doing it all himself - only one other Goldfish has votes (Di Nunno, with only 2).

Current team votes:
SAS has 5 players in the votes, 14 votes total, leading player (Smeltz) on 8.
DFBS has 3 players in the votes, 14 votes total, leading player (Duffill) on 6 (Rendon close behind on 5).
Crockers has 4 players in the votes, 12 votes total, leading player (Wing Chun) on 4.
Marmots have 4 players in the votes, 12 votes total, leading player (Rice) on 5.
Cowboys have 4 players in the votes, 11 votes total, leading player (Villain) on 5.
Goldfish have 2 players in the votes, 11 votes total, leading player (Guanzheng) on 9.
Slam has 3 players in the votes, 8 votes total, leading player (Macko) on 5.
Northcote has 3 players in the votes, 7 votes total, leading player (Masetti) on 5.
Chelsea has 2 players in the votes, 7 votes total, leading player (Forbes) on 5.
C(h)umunga has 3 players in the votes, 7 votes total, leading players (Kuzel and Bessarab) on 3.
JW has 2 players in the votes, 4 votes total, leading players (Selva and Kent) on 2.
Beasts Red has 2 players in the votes, 3 votes total, leading player (Hanping) on 2.

CROCKERS vs. Slam ! 114 - 71 (35545797)

In a battle of the 2 II.4 foes the Crocker Monkeys were way too good for Slam who had just made some sales of players from his team. Crockers played Motion and a 2-3 zone versus Slam's PTB and man on man D which gave crockers a huge advantage tactically. Put simply this one was not close from start to finish...

3. C. Wing Chun (Crockers) - Unusually the 4th highest scorer on the day for Crockers takes the 3 votes with a sensational trip dub. Chun who was playing at C had 14 points, 23 rebounds and 12 assists in an allround dominant performance.

2. R. McPhail (Crockers) - McFail was the 2nd best performer in this one with 30 points on 10-20 shooting (could have been better if he didnt jack up so many 3's), 8 assists and 4 steals...

1. A. Boccaccio (Crockers) - The Boccaccio played a nice solid game on his way to 24 points on 10-20 shooting exploiting the poor OD. He also had 6 reb and 4 assists.

Northcote Slammers vs. Beasts Red 89 - 74 (35545801)

In what was quite an interesting matchup we had Northcote take on Beasts Red...Both teams showed a lack of offensive ratings and matched their best defence against the others strength in this one. Northcote built the win with impressive leads in the 2nd and 3rd q and were never headed.

3. P. Masetti (Northcote) - Masetti was the standout for the game scoring 24 points at over 50% and collecting 12 rebounds. He continues to show he is a good collector of MVP votes.

2. T. Harakka (Northcote) - Harakka takes the 2 votes in what i consider a very hard decision. Beasts dont deserve the 2 votes as if it was a case that Northcote's starters played the whole last quarter they prob would have won by 30. Harakka had 13 points, 5 reb, 5 steals and 2 assists for the game.

1. A. Runcio (Beasts) - Runcio was the dominant force for Beasts hitting 37 points on 15-32 and collecting 7 rebounds for the 1 vote.

Da Fat Boy Slim vs. Chelsea Seagulls 70 - 52 (35545798)

In a game that promised so much Chelsea delivered so little much to the frustration of Yoda. Chelseas well rounded stats were no match for the domination inside unleashed by DFBS with his LI. The 3rd and 4th quarters were particularly successful for fat boys limited Chelsea to 20 points for the whole 2nd half and 52 for the game.

3. K. Duffill (DFBS) - Duffman strikes again with another best on court performance this time dominating the Seagulls. Duffman had 23 points on 10-20 with 18 reb, 5 steals, 2 blocks and 2 assists in a great display.

2. H. Hawthorn (DFBS) - The hawthorn mascot picks up the 2 votes in this game with 19 points 5 reb and 2 assists from the SF position.

1. J. Sherwin (Chelsea) - In a controversial selection Sherwin gets the nod as Chelsea's best player thanks to his 19 rebounds against DFBS beasts inside. He also had 3 blocks and 6 points in a gutsy yet unspectacular display

Ok and to the last 3 games...these writeups will be real short i apoligise but i have nba and other better things to do. Hopefully the writeups will be better next week :-)

SASTROOPERS vs. Rampaging Marmots 104 - 69 (35545799)

In what was a sad, sad day for the Marmots, Sastroopers lead by the one and only Smeltz had an easy win. This game wasnt close at all with all quarters won by Sastroopers thanks to some great balanced defence and solid offence.

3. K. Smeltz (Sastroopers) - Easily the Best On Court (BOC) for his 38 points on 17-26, 29 rebounds and 3 blocks. One of the best performance so far this season in this PL.

2. M. Saar (Sastroopers) - Saar was also able to exploit the Marmots weak inside D for a solid 14 points 6 rebounds and 2 assists in 20 minutes court time.

1. S. Clune (Marmots) - Despite the blowout, Clune performed admirably with 33 points on 13-26 whilst grabbing 4 rebounds.

JW City Bulls vs. Chumunga 102 - 90 (35545800)

In a game that the Chumunga boys definetly thought they could win, JW City Bulls showed they have too much depth as well as incredible ID and rebounding when they want to and nabbed this in overtime by 12 points.

3. B. Penik (JW City Bulls) - Penik was the BOC with 26 points on 11-16 shooting against Chumunga's tall lineup and he also pulled down 13 rebounds. Also contributed greatly to the Bulls defensive ratings.

2. B. Kužel (Chumunga) - Despite the loss by 12 this game did go to OT and Boris was a big reason for Chumunga. He had 24 points on 10-15 combined with 16 boards against the bulls defensive monsters. Had 2 steals and a block as well. Only played 37 minutes as well for this.

1. G. Sélva (JW City Bulls) - Selva although similar stats wise then Kuzel he did play 51 min. He had 20 points on 9-15 with 22 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks

Cowboys From Hell vs. Melbourne Goldfish 80 - 68 (35545796)

This promised to be one of the most competitive games of the round between CFH and the goldfish. The cowboys however slightly dominated each quarter thanks to great ID and OD and got the job done to keep them in the running for the east final.

3. F. Perçin (CFH) - Percin was the player of the match with a game high 24 points on 11-17 shooting, 7 reb, 4 assists and a steal from the PG position.

2. B. Karahan (Melb Goldfish) - Karahan was solid in defeat for the goldfish putting up 18 points, 5 reb and 4 assists in 37 minutes from the PG position in an epic battle.

1. D. Peixet (CFH) - I never thought id give a vote to a player who shot 3-11 for 8 points but i did thanks to Peixet's 25 boards on the night. Rebounding was a massive 17 advantage to the CFH in this game and they can thank this guy for that stat. Everyone else shot terribly for the game.

Week 5 MVPs

Time for me to actually do something!

Melbourne Goldfish vs. CROCKERS 101 - 90

CROCKERS were the early favourites to win the East and are still probably well placed to do it but they are in a bit of a transition phase having sold off a couple of key players and not replaced them yet. The Goldfish sought to take advantage of this by running the four real CROCKERS into the ground with a run and gun/full court press combination. This worked very well until there was a Bulls-like colapse in the 4th and CROCKERS nearly came back for the win.

3 Barlas Karahan Melbourne Goldfish 34 PTS 14/26 FGS $ REB 3 AST. Barlas, aka "The Midnight Express" had a great night shooting up everything and dealing multiple blows to CROCKERS.

2 Aniello Boccaccio CROCKERS 45 PTS. What a scoring explosion, while the 5 turnovers weren't great this was a scintilating offensive performance. This Jump Shot: stupendous player can be yours for just $900,000.

1 Xie Guanzheng Melbourne Goldfish 19 PTS 6 REB 7 AST 6 STE 10/11 FTS 12.0 rating. What an all around performance by Xie the master chef who had a smorgasboard of contributions but was a little off target with his shooting.

Beasts Red vs. Chumunga 74 - 92

The Beasts led by national U21 player Neil Tambyraja played a great game against the much more highly regarded Watermelons. By shutting down Neil and friends with a 3-2 zone and going inside to their strengths Sultan and Kuzel, tremell ensured the valliant effort wouldn't turn into a heroic victory.

3 Boris Kužel Chumunga 23 PTS 12 REB 7 O-REB 14.0 rating. Despite fouling out Boris just pipped teammate Sultan with a superior defensive effort and those impressive offensive rebounds. He also did all of this in a mere 26 minutes!

2 Selçuk Sultan Chumunga 23 PTS 14 REB. The Sultan of Swing had the Beasts in Dire Straights despite playing out of position as SF (although he always does this in PL games). Solid at both ends of the floor it was the sort of effort we have come to expect from one of the class players from last season's Outcasts League.

1 Andrea Runcio Beasts Red 20 PTS 6 REB 3 STE. With everyone on his team besides him and Gigliotti having a horrid shooting night Andrea had to carry the team in offence but with little support it was not nearly enough.

Northcote Slammers vs. Rampaging Marmots 93 - 87

Our game of the week saw Greeno show just what he is capable of when his players are all healthy. Did this game remind anyone of Miami vs Chicago? While most would have favoured the Marmots and they certainly got their tactics right giving away 25 free throws to their amazingly low total of 2 ment that the dirty Marmots lost this one to the good guy Slammers at the charity stripe. The Marmots coach was heard at the end of the game to say, "@#$%^&*" 25-2! Wow! Even more amazing the Marmots were up 87-82 with 1:22 to go and in a Bulls-like massive choke never scored again

3 Pier Giorgio Masetti Northcote Slammers 28 PTS 16 REB 12.5 rating. More importantly players like him and Harakka were calm when the game was on the line he had 2 assists, 2 rebounds and a basket in the final minute. Mr Clutch!

2 Sam Clune Rampaging Marmots 35 PTS. A big total but he couldn't get the job done down the strech missing a critical shot and just standing around doing nothing while B. Ó Daire threw up ugly bricks.

1 Georgy Trifonov Northcote Slammers 14 PTS 8 REB 9 AST. Not far off a triple double shows a very good all around performance.
