Good to have a little seperation between JS/JR
18/18 not needed, not even for Div I
17/14 plus at least 8 IS much better
low IS for SG hurts his scoring ability

Yeah, but the SG he was proposing had equal JS/JR, so I want to know what he choses.

When looking for a trainee, I generally look for the highest total skill points guy within my budget. After that I think its important to look for guys that have high skill points in skills that are slow and difficult to train. For me that means that IS and ID are big priorities. These are the two slowest training skills on short players so I would always to try to find guys with 6-7 IS and ID. (or SB if you are one of those guys). The more secondaries on your trainee the less time you will have to train a slow skill with the add bonus of actually playing him at guard more.

The other two skills that you should look for are OD and JR. They are the two slowest training guard skills. In the perfect world, there would also be a big gap between DR (high) and HA (low), this lets you training alot of 1v1 Guards for DR while maintaining future salary efficiency by limiting HA.

So, I would like to ask you what do you think is better offensively, a 18 JS/11 JR or a 14 JS/14JR, given the rest of skills are the same?

Depends on the offense and the caliber of competition and your offensive flow. The 18/11 guy (in my experience) will shoot better from all distances when the shots are uncontested and always better of contested jump shots, while the 14/14 will shoot better from three point range when there's a defender contesting the shot.

This is my player from draft, I think he is enough but I'm not sure. Should I buy new one or train this lad?

I have only 300k money, I guess I have no other choice. Prices are too high to get good 18y.o trainee for 300k .
