We have enough trouble trying to get more posts in our forum, but now we have someone taking those away... We can't take that type of competition!

I wasn't whining about tanking, and I understand the logic and strategy behind it. I also understand how to manage a team, especially over multiple seasons, if I didn't I wouldn't have made it to D.II, I don't need the lesson. I was just trying to encourage more teams to not give up so easily season after season, and hopefully inspire some managers to be more competitive.

Nice starting price on your young guy on the market. I'd say make Shameless buy him, but only being in D5 he probably doesn't have much cash. So I say Fern would be a logical choice. He is tanking and probably has decent cash. You might even be able to make him give you Carlos Kenny as well. We all know how much damage that guy can do when you relegate to D3.

I really think his point was, this league has been a grind. The competition is fun but at the same time when you are using all of your resources just to stay up or just to make the playoffs, you really aren't improving long term. You're really only getting older. My first two seasons up here, was an absolute struggle and I didn't make a whole lot of headway. I can do more for the long term health of my franchise by taking three seasons to work on my infrastructure. I don't view it as tanking at all. I am building my arena, developing some prospects, developing a more American roster, and putting some cash in the bank. I will be a much stronger team in three seasons than I was last season, and I had a good D2 team.

All of that being said, you new guys have a real advantage. You don't need your payroll to swell up to over 400k just to stay in the league. You will be much better off than I was after a couple seasons here. Take advantage of it. Remember it is cyclical, this league will get tough again. So don't think your team is all that good or that D2 is all that easy, you just hit the perfect storm.

It was very inspiring.
Unfortunately my spirits were crushed again when I realized I don't have the 11 mil to buy that guy from Yuck.

So your friends in the NBBA create an entire forum ragging on this kid, you post not once, not twice, not three times, not four times but five times joking around with them about it. But this you have an issue with? And anyone is supposed to take you seriously with this double standard?

I can totally see why you would think that, however, the difference is that in that other thread nobody actually accused him of cheating.... of course the line was walked very closely but nobody actually did.... in this forum several guys have come right out & accused him of cheating and he defended himself against cheating. those are against the rules.

personally I like to be more conservative when it comes to telling people what they can and can't say.... so I didn't feel the need to stop the other forum.... however, if allowing that leads to this then maybe that's why some GM's run a much tighter ship then I do.

Pretty much. I think Myopic had 600k in salary in his starting lineup alone last year.

I stayed somewhat competitive for the entire time I've played this game (at least playoffs every season until last year). The result of that was that I promoted to D2 with like a 10k seat arena, then sort of had to just tread water for 5 seasons. Eventually it catches up to you so I don't think "Seriously guys, stay competitive you might have a chance to pull off an upset! lookit march madness!" is always sound advice.

My initial response was written at 3am so maybe it wasn't all that clear.

So you are saying the other forum never accused him of cheating. Never used the word cheat. Never said he broke the rules. Only used his own actions to paint the picture that he cheated without ever actually crossing that line? And that is the reason their posts didn't get deleted but mine did?

I bet you can totally see why I thought there was a double standard from my perspective from my post.

I agree I dont think I am a lock as lots of things can happen. Am I the favorite, yeah, but that is why we play the game...to see how it turns out. Lots of stuff can happen, somebody can go out and buy a couple of impact players for the playoffs or I could get an injury....I have seen both happen before.

As far as tanking I dont see how that helps me to tell you the truth and yes if you can cut salary and get players to build with, it is truly the way to go, but you have to do it right. When I was relegated from the NBBA in season 19 I picked up Laurent and Salpigkidis as two players to build around, both are close to NT players at the moment and shoudl be there next.

Other things have helped this season as well, I believe I had a more favorable schedule this year than in the past, both with respect to when I played guys early on and who I played on the road in the other division. For example if I had to play the Eagles at their place it would have been a different story I am sure. The other things I have seen throughout the years (I have played since season 3) is you have to make adjustment to how your team plays as changes are made with the Game Engine each year. Last year I bought a high end PG and figured (as did several) that I would be a contender because of that, it did not work out and I ended up dumping him, Jose Castillo. This year I tried playing Milner at PG instead of SF where he was doing fine, it helped my team overall and has proven to be a good move. Next year the GE will lessen the impact of the LI offense, so changes will once again need to be made....

But back to the point, yeah I think there are windows for teams, as teams get old and at the DII level your salary can easily exceed what you can bring in so you do have to sell and retool. That is why I think the toughest Division is DII.....just a few thoughts of mine....

Out of respect to Jason I took down the last of my two posts. Just bringing this up to make sure no one thought he removed it nor did he ask me to. He and I have ironed out our differences over BB Mail and are on the same page again. Truth, justice and the American way.
