From the rules

Rankings

The world championships aren't the only way that national teams can compete for status. For every national team game that gets played, some number of ranking points get distributed between the participants. Even scrimmages are worth something, but the bigger the game, the more points get handed out. All ranking points that national teams receive, they keep for 28 weeks (i.e., two seasons). Points expire on a rolling basis.

The winning team gets a bigger share of the ranking points for a game, but it doesn't get all of them. Precisely how many points are received depends upon the relative strength of the two teams. If the teams are evenly matched, then the winning team will receive 75% of the points, and the losing team the other 25%. An underdog who scores an upset will get nearly 100%, but a strongly favored team that takes home a predictable victory will receive only a bare majority.

Although it's usually safe to assume that the team with more ranking points will be the one that we deem stronger, the two are not identical. We track teams' strength in a separate internal variable that we don't publish (so don't ask!). The algorithm we use is called Glicko-2 and is similar to the systems used by Baseball Prospectus and by the US Chess Federation. If you're interested in the gory details, click here, but the math might be scary. Don't complain that we didn't warn you.

Goodluck in understanding that.

rage

how did i lose this game

http://www.buzzerbeater.com/match/32305709/boxscore.aspx

i beat his inside attack with my inside def

and my outside attack is better then his outside defense.

im fairly convinced private leagues still run on the old game engine where inside attack trumps outside atk

That to me seems pretty consistent with the normal game engine, where the best defense against an inside offense is good outside D, to stop them getting the ball inside.

Despite the fact that he played LI, his guards still took alot of shots, and courtesy of your inept OD, he make a fair proportion of them.

That result doesn't really surprise me, its one that could go either way.

What happened to saying 2-3 zone is broken?

Personally I can see your result coming. Your inside is good so your opponent couldn't get it in so the guards end up taking shots from outside...and since you only got 2 guys defending there, they made a bunch of them.

I must point out that I am very happy with my win over datzilla.

My 160k C is injured for 2 weeks, so I played my backup 23k big man. Glad to come away with a 2 point win, and I hope Pereira's back in time for the playoffs. But it was a good win nevertheless.

In other great news, coming up against Snuffies tonight (2nd in II.1 and my biggest rival) with his 2 starting guards injured. A win should lock down 1st for me in II.1 =) Injury problems for every coming up to playoffs!

Great win, clearly the match of the round. I still think Snuffles looks scary but this is the wrong time to have an injury because you need great GS in the playoffs.

Have you seen the Maggots have sold almost their entire team? Got not the best prices. Now they face Datzilla with four scrubs and a lucky fan tonight. I think someone will have an aneurism when they find out.

i still do think 2-3 is broken .

just thought the result of this game judging by the ratings alone should have been different .
