Enjoyable read, apart from the surgery part of the story.. Ouch
I think we shouldn't make up our mind about a sport until we play it. I played Rugby Union for 3-4 years at the Tight-Head prop (front row) position and I can say having played both league and Union that Union (in my opinion) is by far the tougher sport. It's all a matter of perspective.
Rugby Union is more free flowing then League or NFL. Every time someone is tackled in NRL they get up casually and "play the ball" in Union it's called a ruck that requires the player who was tackled to place the ball behind them for the Scrum Half (Number 9) to start the next play. What I hate about the NFL is the constant stoppages throughout the game, I just lose interest when they spend so much time setting up for plays and so little time actually playing the game.
Anyway that's my opinion of the game, AFL sucks. That is all
