We have a ripper of an interview here with III.6 leader and the sharks very own Akuma, manager of Team Akuma
1. What is the inspiration for your team's name?
Akuma is the biggest, baddest and dirtiest character in Street Fighter. Tell me you have heard of street fighter?? Since my team was destined to have the biggest baddest and dirtiest players, it got Akuma's big seal of approval and endorsement.
2. What state do you live in?
The state that gets belted year after year by Queensland in the Origin. Yep, good old NSW.
3. Do you think your team has what it takes to win the championship?
They f'ing better! Or the whole lot of them will get sacked in the offseason. YES THAT INCLUDES YOU CLINTON ABIMBOLA. In all seriousness, I think this season is the best shot I've had of winning the championship since I joined the dreaded 3.6. A combination of training, other contenders recovering from failed attempts, and market conditions have paved the way for TeamAkuma's best run ever since destroying the bots in division 4 many many seasons ago. We're 19-0 at the moment, and likely to bring it home with 22-0 (touch wood). The stats are misleading though, J-Ballers in the other conference spent the early season focusing on Cup rather than league, so his 16-3 record does not accurately reflect how strong his team really is. He's also probably got a fair amount of cash stocked up - it will be interesting to see what roster moves he will make as we get toward the sharp end of the season. Our teams are very evenly matched though, inside vs outside, so hopefully we can come to a gentlemans agreement to let the best team win without any more roster additions to either side. Lord knows TeamAkuma accountants are already having a stroke each monday when the finance update rolls around.
4. Would you prefer promoting by winning the championship or do you not care as long as you are Div II bound?
I definitely want to win the championship. Bot promotion is a great consolation, but there is no sweeter glory than having that shiny cup on your Team home page. There's also a fair amount of prestige of having a 3.6 cup - it's a bastard of a league. In saying that.. heck I'll take bot promotion if I lose..just as long as I get out of this black hole that sucks up players and holds them here forever...
5. What is your favourite tactic in BB?
Motion baby Motion. Slow offense leads to great shot selection, and good passing leads to low turnovers and more opportunities. I learnt how to play the motion offense from my very good friend datzilla who owns the DFBS ABBL team. I've pretty much built my team up around it.
Or...am I just bullshitting everyone and will throw in an entirely new tactic in the Finals series that I have been secretly working on?????? Who knows??? Bahahahhaha
6. What is your favourite aspect of BB?
Training for sure... I love developing a player from a scrub into a formidable franchise player. I've developed two U21 players.. Clinton Abimbola and Avery Maclean.. neither of them were stars though.. more bench players. I just need to get lucky and land a really really great rookie. If I lose this season, I will most likely tank and get myself a new rookie or save enough cash to buy myself one.
7. Who do you think is your biggest challenger?
As discussed in a previous question - JBallers. Although Possum Pete is always a dangerous opponent - he almost had me in a game a few nights ago. That was a very close call, and would have been disastrous for my bot promotion chances. There are a few outside challengers as well, such as DragonZ from the blue conference. But it will most likely be me and JBallers in the finals.
