That is totally correct but it doesn't make them a threat for that specific season. Bainsy, Ezlife and Skyhooks are trying to figure out right now, which conference is the toughest. Take for example Vios Violators or Viral Infecions. Both are great managers that came close to making the ABBL last season. This season they are both fully tanking trying to recover from the financial devastation of a failed promotion run. I have no doubt that both will achieve their aims this season but despite their skills, knowledge, many seasons of division II experience and massive bank accounts by the end of the season they will be providing little threat to anyone this seaon unless you meet them in a relegation series. So do you judge them by team ranking? Seasons played? Seasons in division II? How well they achieve their goal? By far the best way to gague the strength they are adding to a conference is by (the flawed method of) looking at their salaies.

A good (but very time consuming) method I use to gauge the long term threat of an opponent is to look at the following things:

- Current salary
- Current players ratings in key games
- Current team ratings in key games

I also look at Arena size, ticket prices and volume of sales in each game to gauge how much money that team is making. This helps me gauge how much profit / loss they are banking each week, and the likely size of their bank.

At the end of the day though, hard statistics can only get you so far. The statistics available help us determine a teams current playing strength, as well as their economic strength. How teams are managed, and the goals of key managers can change the current state at any time. Tanking teams may suddenly buy up big, while teams at the top may sell off their teams after ASW because they are safe from relegation.

In other words, know your opponent inside out. Know his pets name, find out if he folds or scrunches...

Even find out his favourite colour...

As you can see there has been a few movers since the last update (3 games ago). Big Fishy reigns supreme and is still undefeated. The Dreamers, Awesome, Bogans and Home Axis have remained strong while the Gladiators and the Magick slipped further down the Breeders ladder. And, unfortunately, the Fresh Princes are still without a win and not looking like getting one anytime soon.

Ha I sit 13th yet I'm only behind the goldfish in my conference and who sit first on this ladder. I've also beaten stone slashers who sit in 7th. All because I choose who to beat and to lose to. Every game I've tried to win I've won so far
