I'm saying this thanks to my experience of small nations. The beginning is always great... hope that this mentoring program will be as great as it is right now in 2 or 3 seasons.
It's like for companies. They can't respond to every specific customer segment. They focus on their core target & once they are big enough, they expand their range of products in order to attract new customers.
It's an advice among any others: controlling ones growth is one of the key success factor in an environment like BuzzerBeater

Oh and by the way, I don't agree with you regarding training =P. Your method fits if you want to gain mono-skilled monster. But if you don't have some GE knowledge, you'll be running straight in the wall.
