Well, if you're in the mood for training ST and FT for the next four weeks, you could pass the time that way if you still wish to improve this guy and keep him. I'd recommend training FT 3x and ST 1x. This way, you still improve this homegrown player, and you also give the rest of your team a boost in FT/ST at the same time.
This idea falls apart if you have several other trainees with strict training programs, of course.
