Season 70: Welcome to the Jungle

A new season comes with a new cast of characters. II.4 has reloaded with a mix of cagey veterans, promotion dreamers, and at least one team that might be secretly tanking while calling it “a cultural reset.” Grab your scouting reports and your popcorn—because the Big 8 and Great 8 are packed tighter than the transfer list after draft day.

Let’s meet the neighbors.

BIG 8
Beware of Dogs
Classic “old money” Buzzerbeater franchise that has been around since season 9, and first walked into II.4 back in season 18. More recently, they spent five straight in the NBBA, and now they’re back like they forgot their keys. Is BoD’s plan to say “BRB NBBA” or just “TTYL DII”? Either way, expect pedigree, payroll, and probably pain for whoever draws them early.

New York Nugs
The Nugs took the DIII.13 championship and enters the league with a solid squad who took the Nugs to the round of 16 in their BBM run. The Nugs arrive with momentum and maturity. The question is: are they building for a long stay or just visiting on their way to NBBA? Their roster says “we belong,” but we’ll see if altitude sickness hits in the deep end of DII.

US DAGGERS
The Daggers have been speed-running success: D.IV champs in 68, DIII champs in 69. Is a three-peat incoming? With their entire starting five on the transfer block, they win the early race for being the league’s mystery box. Either they’re pulling a soft reboot…or plotting the most chaotic title defense since the 2012 Mavs implosion.

Worker Bees
Steady risers with a blue-collar resume. They buzzed through D.IV and DIII with hard work and hustle, but DII might sting. Fourth-lowest payroll in the league and no obvious stars could mean long nights in the hive. Still, never count out a swarm that knows how to grind.

GREAT 8
Anchorage Allstars.
Promoted from DIII with a slick backcourt that could make a snowman sweat. The frontcourt? Yikes. Can the AAs keep up inside, or will they double-down on guard play and hope the ice holds? Expect fast starts and cold finishes.

Myopic Marauders
These dudes are vintage BB. We’re talking Season 2 origin story old. After a long exile from DII (since Season 63), they’re back—but are they just resting on nostalgia or sitting on a secret war chest? With the third-lowest payroll in the league, they’re looking close at the transfer market…right? RIGHT?! [insert that Anakin/Padme Star Wars meme here].

As for the rest of us: you can skim through last season’s updates in the S69 thread to learn more about those of us carrying over from last season. We’re glad you’re here, and we all hope you lose when we play you. Good day.

Nice write up ... Just an old Buzzerbeater franchise passing through. What you see now is what you're going to get for the rest of the season. Easy win for everyone.

Buzzer manager says I have the fifth most expensive bench though :-)

Yes, looking at the transfer market but I'll be honest I wasn't expecting to win the finals so we'll see what I can find.

And not as much of a war chest as I might like since if you don't pay attention staff salaries and bad ticket prices hamper your ability to hoard.
