Good Afternoon,
My name is FurYak and I have thrown my hat into the u21 race for Canada. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I have had two stints in buzzerbeater (Bellyachers up until season 28 , and then Good Intel at some point near the conclusion of season 29 until now. I developed the following u21 players for the US:
Kevin Davis - Season 23 PG
Patrick Meloni - Season 39 Guard
Tom Bernier - Season 36 Guard
Lon Mock - Season 39 Big
Dennis Lester - Season 38-39 Big, #1 rebounding all time in USA u21 history, top 10 in rebounds in a u21 season in US history, 5th all time scoring in USA u21 history.
Young Li - Season 41 Big
Mark Richey - Season 41 Big
I ran the u21 for the US side for seasons 36-39, and with the help of jkalltheway (the u21 manager after me), we increased the quality of the side we inherited from tough (and helped rebuild with him as scouts and staff from missing the u21 worlds entirely the worlds prior) to a team that reached the semi's twice (and jk did one better than me with the improved scouting staff to take the US back to the finals in his two seasons). Late into the jkalltheway era i left my role as HoF scout for the US u21 due to some personal differences, and took a backseat and trained my HoF Winston Pham. With Pham's development closing in on completion, i am likely to start developing u21 players again as that is my true calling.
Now that you know a bit about my u21 credentials and the stable of bigs and guards that i've developed, I'd like to openly discuss what i plan on bringing to the u21 team for Canada should you decide that i am the guy you would like to lead you into battle.
1) Redevelopment of talent in the Canada u21 stable: Canada can and should make the worlds round two again. It is a lofty goal pending an analysis of the current stable of 20 year olds for next season, but my personal goal is to improve the 18 year olds this season and the 19 year olds next season that can come into the team.
2) Types of u21 builds: If nothing else, my run as the u21 manager in the US suggested that the type of players that can make the u21 are not just cookie cutter OD monsters at guard and bigs with 50-55 BSP and no guard skills at all. There were bigs that played worlds games against the top 5 powerhouse teams with fewer Big skill points than others on the team! So if you want to make salary efficient players? they can still make the team in specific tactics, and not require a vast amount of reworking.
3) I am not quite sure where the player database is for canada currently (why would i previously as the us21 manager, that would've been cheating :P ), but i plan on making it more open for the 18-19 year olds to all members of the community. I want to see more people playing buzzer beater no matter what country they are from, and will be happy to provide advice and feedback to all sorts of builds, regardless of whether or not they make the u21. Whatever makes managers stay in buzzerbeater is really what i want in the end, the game is interesting on the u21 side to me and i don't want to see it go away any time soon.
Feel free to ask me questions about what i can do for Canada's u21, and even if i do not win i hope to see more people get involved in this aspect of the game, it is super fun to have a player playing for your country :)
